How do we get Jeb Bush to run as an independent?

Posted on 02/06/2008 9:38:31 AM PST by Ann in RAB

How can we get Jeb Bush to run as an independent? Think about it. In an ordinary year, he would have the baggage of Bush fatigue. But I bet he could win in a three-way race against any Democrat and an unreliable, hotheaded, too old, moderate at best, and not very nice candidate like McCain. This could be Jeb’s time, and the best shot he will ever have. He would have no latino problem, being loved in Florida. Our low turnout compared to the Dems shows us that the party is too dispirited to be successful this year. Jeb Bush is the closest thing to Reagan in or out of organized politics, and I could get very excited about his independent candidacy.

1) We put aside all reason
2) We decide its not bad enough having a moderate in the GOP we should throw a completely unelectable guy as a conservative in the mix
3) We pick the *most* unelectable person possible..

I like Jeb but the ‘Bush’ part guarantees he would probably not even carry his own state in a two way race let alone a three way race..

Jeb Bush is for the same amnesty for illegals programs that the present President Bush is for, and Jeb is another “Bush”! I’m also beyond tired of the idea of supporting a “Bush dynasty”!

Good idea to send Jeb to Mexico. Another open border, amnesty guy.

Okay, I've thought about it.

No more Bushes. You can call it "fatigue" if you like, I call it "twice burned."

Don’t you get it? It’s already split. I would like a better choice.

Which one are you presuming is ‘bad’ and which one ‘worse’ ?

When taking Congress into account, McCain is arguably the ‘worse’, right ?

Why should I believe that Jeb would be a change for the better? I’ve outgrown the tooth fairy story.

Conservatives were supported, only frationally so - the conservatives were split among several candidates that, for whatever reason (Thompson never seem to have the "energy" to really run, etc...) - when they dropped out, they ALL dropped out within a short timespan.

It leaves the conservatives without a true candidate to back.

But, just the thought of Madam President has galvanized me again to BGR status to ensure a Clinton never resides in the White House again.

At least that way, we know the sinks will always be "clean"....at 1600

Excited about another Bush in the White House? What have you been drinking....you’re talking about the former Governor of Florida. The Mel Martinez lover, the other in a series of illegal lovers...the same Bush that didn’t allow drilling for oil/gas of the coast of Florida? Geez, no wonder the republican party has gone to hell in a handbasket.

Why would you want to do this? Hillary and McCain are already two sufficient reasons for conservatives to stay home in November. Giving them a third would only be overkill.

There are a lot of George W. supporters who still strongly support him. It’s understandable that people would like a change after 8 years of any administration. But Jeb Bush is not George W. He is the most naturally gifted political figure in the whole family. His intelligence and management ability have been demonstrated in his response to regular hurricanes in Florida. Nobody is a perfect fit, but on the essential qualities, Jeb has them all. In a three-way race, the Bush haters have two other candidates to vote for, and Jeb can still get the plurality and win.
