Inside the Raincloud
Up inside the raincloud, the droplets do confer.
And though they seem quite uniform, they rarely do concur.
Droplet One says Whats the use? No one will even look.
And Droplet Two says Im not ready! I didnt read the book!
The bigger Droplet Ten responds, Now, steady on!
Dont fall down on us now.
Just get into position, were about to make a bow.
Dont you mean a rainbow? No, I said lets take a bow!
Your little bending motion, will change the lights return,
And give a little color for the fame that you will earn.
Now, some of you will get a chance to use your other hand,
And bounce another color if it comes perchance to land.
Well do a double duty, and make a pretty show,
And the people will exclaim at all the colors of our glow!!
He lined up all the children with a sparkle in his eye,
And he didnt give the little ones a chance to even cry.
The curtain raised about them and the light was shining clear,
And everyone that he could see was grinning ear to ear.
Their bright smiles shone back out to where the sun had shone before,
And the rainbow that they formed would now become the stuff of lore.
They held the pose until they splashed down on the ground,
And made a lot of merriment as they were dancing round.
They formed into their rivulets to start the trip back up,
And all exclaimed their luck to be a droplet in Gods cup.

Identity Theft
Whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. Matthew 5:22
Several years ago while having lunch with a friend, a white man called me boy. Shock gave way to anger and hurt. My friend even shed tears. Why? The term boy was an insulting label used of black men in the US during slavery, an attempt to steal their identity by demoting them to less than men. As that ugly word recklessly barreled its way through my soul, I wanted to respond with an equally unkind name. But some ancient words from our Master about murder and anger changed my mind.
As Jesus was teaching His followers, He quoted the sixth commandmentYou shall not murderand the penalty for breaking it (Matt. 5:21). Then He gave a fuller interpretation. Taking someones life was not limited to physical murder; you could show contempt for someone through name-calling and be just as guilty. In Jewish culture, to call someone Raca or Fool (v.22) was the equivalent of calling someone empty-headed or an idiot. It was used to demean and demote another. What makes name-calling so damaging is that it insults the God who created that person in His image!
Jesus taught His followers that the weight of our neighbors glory is a burden we carry daily. If we follow His teaching, we wont be guilty of identity theft.
Teach me to love, this is my prayer
May the compassion of Thy heart I share;
Ready a cup of water to give,
May I unselfishly for others live. Peterson

Chocolate Amaretto Cheesecake
6 chocolate wafers, crushed
1 8 oz package light cream cheese
1 cup sugar
1 cup 1% low fat cottage cheese
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 cup flour
1/4 cup amaretto (brandy, creme de menthe, or kahlua may also be substituted)
** but of course, then we'd have to re-name it**
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp salt
1 egg
2 Tbs chocolate mini-morsels
Sprinkle chocolate wafer crumbs in bottom of a 7 inch springform pan. Set aside.
Position knife blade in food processor bowl; add cream cheese and next seven ingredients, processing until smooth.
Add egg and process until just blended.
Fold in chocolate morsels. Slowly pour mixture ovecrumbs in pan.
Bake at 300 degrees for 65-70 minutes, or until cheesecake is set. If using an 8 inch pan, bake only 45-50 minutes. Let cool in pan on wire rack.
Cover and chill at least 8 hours.
Happy "Something Good Day!"

Amy that recipe looks sooooooooooooooo good.
Just came in with another dog walk in back.At the very rear of the property were indentations in the snow.. maybe 15 of where the dear nested last night.. As I got closer to the home I saw more.. mostly under large evergreen trees. I was surprised to see some less than 15 feet from the house under a large blue spruce.
If you are in the cold north..Feed the birds everyone.. I put out everything that is waste & the birds& whatever get something to live yet another day. I have so far today taken out to two areas large amounts of left over pasta, pizza crusts (chopped thin), bread..
see swarms of birds & it is all gone quickly

I wish I could send you some dry bread for the birds. I’m saving it for when we go to the park this summer. Marissa loves to feed the ducks.

Roasted Banana Ice Cream
(based on David Lebovitz recipe printed in The Travelers Lunchbox)
Serves 3-4
3 ripe bananas
1/3 C sugar (preferably brown sugar) + 2 T regular white sugar
1 T butter
1 t vanilla essence
1 C milk (I used 3%)
½ C fresh cream (chilled)
1 ½ t lemon juice
½ t salt
½ t cinnamon powder
1/8 C raisins soaked in 2 T dark rum
Peel the bananas and cut into 1 inch chunks. In a glass baking dish take the banana pieces and brown sugar, and toss with the butter. Bake for 40 minutes (preheated to 400F/200C), till browned, turning just once in the middle of the baking process.
Remove the contents of the baking dish into a mixing bowl. Add the all the other ingredients except raisins, and blend to a smooth puree. Mix in the raisins and any nuts, if using, and pour into an ice cream maker to set in the fridge. (I used the plastic container of store-bought ice cream to chill mine, blended it once after 2 hours of chilling.)

Hasty Haiku:
Februarys haste
to usher in an early
March slowed by one day.
Without even counting Leap Day, Amy, I’d say you’ve done quite a nice job for February,
and I’d bet my bottom dollar you’ve done this before and will do it again, I hope. Thanks.

The Grand Canyon should not be confused
