It’s amazing that you can just pop up with a poem like that whenever you want to.
It’s like you pull them out of your hat or sumthin’ ...

Yeah ..... that’s what I meant.
Don’t go too far away, I will need you to pull another out of your hat before the month is over. :^ )

I don’t think I’ve posted this before.
“Hwaet! We Gar-Dena in geardagum”,
started that epic tale of old.
It told of Viking heroes,
their exploits brave and bold.
And we like they have seen the day,
when heroes walked our land,
and like those Spear-Danes in years gone by,
they were a mighty band.
Our lofty legions fought not for land,
gold or treasure we did not seek.
None save the despot had reason to fear,
the wrath of our warriors and might of our arms.
In our midst there arose a socialist serpent,
to challenge our efforts to defend our shores.
In the halls of the Congress the air was filled,
with the oral flatulence of the political class.
No byrnied warrior with burnished shield,
can long endure that deafening din.
These mead hall thanes endeavor to kill,
without sword or spear or Frankish axe,
The will of the folk-lands fearless forces,
while yet engaged on foreign soil.
With bovine excrement the battle is engaged,
their journalist minions protecting their flanks.
When shall appear a Hygelacs thane,
in the town by the Potomac the feces to clear.

In the second line, I think “began” would be better than “started”.

Good morning, Fewz. Thank you for sharing.
I didn’t know the meaning of all the words but I think you did a good job of describing Congress.
Thank you again for sharing your poem with us.

Thank you for that, Mama Bear. I think of Robert Frost’s poetry this time of year also. This makes me realize my life has been far too prosaic for far too long...
Poetry and music and nature speak to the soul.

Best In Show?
READ: Matthew 23:1-12
Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7
Dog shows on TV can be entertaining. The dog owners are impeccably dressed and trot along with their pedigreed pooches as they show off their unique canine beauty. The dogs have been trained to stand confidently with chins lifted high, their shiny coats carefully brushed and styled. To me, they all look like winners.
But I wonder sometimes, when their audience is gone, what are these dogs really like? Do they ever relax and let their sleek fur get so matted theyre mistaken for mutts? Does their doggie breath start smelling foul?
More important, what are we really like when nobodys watching? In Matthew 23:2-7, Jesus rebuked those who were interested in how they looked in public rather than how they were seen by God. He wants us to be obedient, faithful, and committed to Himeven when nobody else sees. The Pharisees focused on the way they were perceived by other people. Gods focus is on what were like inside. His desire is for us to look like His Son.
Were not in a competition with other Christians. God will never ask us to compete for best in show. He measures us by the perfect standard of His Son (Eph. 4:13). And in love, He provides the righteousness we need so that we can be blameless before Him (Col. 1:21-23).
Just live your life before your Lord,
It matters not what others do
Your actions will be weighed by Him
Who metes out judgment just and true. Roe
Living for Gods approval is better than living for mans applause.
