Uh oh....you let the birthday cat out of the bag! LOL

Speaking of which, it sure is a "Super Tuesday", if for no other reason, IT'S HIS BIRTHDAY! I am going to celebrate with a super-huge piece of chocolate cake. LOL

That is awesome Old Sarge. I loved that photo when I saw it yesterday and you had already written the perfect poem to go with it. Congratulations, I just love it.

Who said you are not very good? I think your poem, and your photo of that sweet squirrel, are both wonderful! He really does look like a happy little guy.

To answer your question about Chachi; he continues to improve very slowly. Still is wobbly sometimes on his back legs, but he doesn't seem to know he is gimpy. He wants to run and play like he always has. The surgeon says he can't over-exert for three months because it takes that long for the soft tissue to heal. Keeping him quiet and sedate is going to be nearly impossible. But we are thankful he is doing so well, what a blessing to see him free of pain.

Was it TWO years ago that you posted this at the Finest? Seems like only recently.

Like you, I can't imagine putting so much work into something that is going to end up a big puddle. Thank goodness for photography, huh? At least these works of art can be saved that way.

The Atrocious Mathematics Of The Gospel

READ: Matthew 18:23-35

The master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. —Matthew 18:27

From childhood we are taught how to succeed in the world of ungrace. “You get what you pay for.” “The early bird gets the worm.” “No pain, no gain.” I know these rules well because I live by them. I work for what I earn; I like to win; I insist on my rights. I want people to get what they deserve.

But Jesus’ parables about grace teach a radically different concept. In Matthew 18, no one could accumulate a debt as huge as the servant did (vv.23-24). This underscores the point: The debt is unforgivable. Nevertheless, the master let the servant off scot-free.

The more I reflect on Jesus’ parables proclaiming grace, the more tempted I am to apply the word atrocious to describe the mathematics of the gospel. I believe Jesus gave us these stories to call us to step completely outside our tit-for-tat world of ungrace and enter into God’s realm of infinite grace.

If I care to listen, I hear a loud whisper from the gospel that I did not get what I deserved. I deserved punishment and got forgiveness. I deserved wrath and got love. I deserved debtor’s prison and got instead a clean credit history. I deserved stern lectures and crawl-on-your-knees repentance. Instead, I got a banquet spread for me.

His love has no limit, His grace has no measure,
His power has no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth and giveth and giveth again.  —Flint

Our sin is great—God’s grace is greater.

Thanks, Jaycee. Your compliments are appreciated.

I like to try graphics but I don’t seem to improve with practice. Looks like I need to spend more time on them. : )

We vote at the school so we voted when we picked up PrissyMissy.

We always get absentee ballots and then drop them at the polling place.

Chocolate cake sounds sooo good; guess that I need to settle for ice cream. No chocolate cake (or any other kind) in the house.

I remember doing the same thing about 3 years ago.

I’ve put Billie’s name on the cardinal graphic so it shouldn’t happen again with THAT graphic. : )
