Britney Spears taken from home in ambulance

Troubled pop star Britney Spears has been taken to hospital in an ambulance to "get help".

The ambulance picked Spears up at her Studio City home shortly after 1:30 am (0930 GMT). It was escorted to the hospital by more than a dozen motorcycle officers, two police cruisers and two police helicopters.

Los Angeles police would not immediately confirm the report but one officer, who requested anonymity, said Spears was being taken to "get help".

Celebrity gossip website TMZ.com reported Spears was rushed to UCLA Medical Center where she was to be placed on a 5150 hold, the involuntary confinement of a person deemed to be a danger to themselves or others.

The trigger may have been untreated post partum depression; her public melt down started w/the birth of her first son. This could have lead to bi-polar (brain chemistry amiss).

There was a very sad, heartbreaking actually, release last week. The photog she has been seeing tried to sell ‘’candid’ video of Britney. She, in one of the clips, sits on her bed and speaks of herself in the third person...’when Britney was a girl, she had to work al the time.’ Even the celeb commentators backed off from commenting...Perez said he wouldnt linki...too mentally ill to make any kind of remarks on. l

Helped along and cheered on by the media including the dirtbags at Entertainment Tonight (ET). Sad. The girl needs to be left alone so she can get her life back on track.

She really didn’t make her own bed. She is bi-polar. There is apparently a familiar history of mental illness/suicide. She trully is sick...a 5150 means she is a danger to herself and others.

But like I said, a lot of this she seeks out herself and inflicts upon herself. Another poster talked about her narcissistic tendencies, and from what I'm hearing, that's pretty standard. She could escape this if she REALLY wanted to--get the hell out of Hollywierd, go back to the trailer for a while where nobody would bother her, and get her head screwed on straight.

Someone in distress does not know how to find help for themselves. That is why God made compassion. He also made jerks that have fun taunting and hounding without conscience. First comes help from the later before free will can be given a second chance.

rankly, I think that a lot more people in the media need to be killed "in the line of duty," just to remind them that they're NOT particularly special.

It was surprising to me that may of the celeb sites just found their humanity and they backed off linking the Adnan profiteering videos. I fear another Diana type death will sadly have to occur before laws can even be changed relative to the paparazzi. I remember speeding like a mad fool to get to the hospital HOPING to get a police escort. I never even got pulled over! (it was a 100 mile trip)

I agree. I can’t help but wonder if the public rancor shown by Brit to her mom, Lynn, is a payback for being under the thumb of a quintessential ‘stage mom.’ Maybe that is why she reached out to creepy users (Lufti and Adnan). Maybe, in some contorted thought, Brit found them to be honest users of her, rather than pretending to care about her users (like her parents, her original manager, her sister Jamie and cousin Alli).
