Troubled pop star Britney Spears has been taken to hospital in an ambulance to "get help".
The ambulance picked Spears up at her Studio City home shortly after 1:30 am (0930 GMT). It was escorted to the hospital by more than a dozen motorcycle officers, two police cruisers and two police helicopters.
Los Angeles police would not immediately confirm the report but one officer, who requested anonymity, said Spears was being taken to "get help".
Celebrity gossip website TMZ.com reported Spears was rushed to UCLA Medical Center where she was to be placed on a 5150 hold, the involuntary confinement of a person deemed to be a danger to themselves or others.

I've said this in threads about the Iraq war, and it's really no different here... The "media" has this idea that they're not just "the annointed," but also that they're special, and deserve special treatment. We see that here, just like we've seen in Iraq. Frankly, I think that a lot more people in the media need to be killed "in the line of duty," just to remind them that they're NOT particularly special.
I like the fact that Gwenyth Paltrow's hubby attacked one of the photographers... I just wish he would have kept the camera, and maybe really beaten the guy. Didn't Britney once "run over" a paparazzi's foot? She should have backed up and REALLY run him over.
A few dead "journalists" and photographers and maybe the rest would catch a clue.
And no, I'm really NOT kidding.

Mental illness has nothing to do with morality, and exactly how do you ‘hold someone to account’ (slight paraprhase) for a genetic glitch?
It’s not like she hasnt lost her children, or been publicly humiliated in ways that I dont think most human beings would survive no matter how strong they were. And this girl is so brittle ...
I dunno—a lot of life’s misery is self-inflicted, and if she reallly hated it THAT much, she’d just “disappear”. Wouldn’t be the first time a celeb did it.
I've said the same. They think being a "reporter" or "journalist" is a special calling, like how Priests and Nuns answer God's calling. They actually believe that during a gun battle, BOTH SIDES have an obligation to not shoot in their direction, and in fact, should be required to protect them. That's why they gasp so loudly when a reporter is killed.
They're probably hoping for it.
The papparazzi and press need to be reigned in, big time. I dont expect it to happen anytime soon.
It won't. Not as long as it sells those rags & keeps tabloid TV on the air. They're not even human. They're just impatient vultures.
‘The fault, dear Driftdriver, lies not in our stars, but in ourselves.”
Well my Dear, part of the fault does lie with those who make the demand. That does not make what the paparazzi do right. Oh and I wasn’t saying it was the stars fault. Its the paparazzi. The stars are part of the problem as they play it up but I can’t understand how they got away with jumping on the ambulance the last time.
Again? Or is another article about the last time she was taken away?

I don’t know... A few dead drug dealers doesn’t seem to stop the rest.
It’s a line from Julius Caesar. Cassius is trying to convice Brutus that Caesar must be assassinated and he uses that line to explain to Brutus that things are the way they are because of the fundamental nature of people.
True then and true now.
“The “media” has this idea that they’re not just “the annointed,” but also that they’re special, and deserve special treatment.”
True, but considering that the biased “media” has such power and control over what we ‘take in’, what we are ‘fed’ on a minute to minute basis, and, IMO, as in the case of how all aspects of their election coverage influences the outcome of it, it’s no wonder the reporters act like Gods.
Montel Williams walked off the set of Fox & Friends during a commercial break the other morning when the anchors insisted first on yet another discussion about the death of Heathe, before they would promote his book. Williams argued NO and how shameful it was that the media coverage never includes the names of the soldiers who die on a daily basis in Iraq... and he left without any mention of his book. Props to him.
Crazy or Stop the World (and Let Me Off)...or both.
My wife predicted before the first time she was whisked away in an ambulance that within a year Britney will have committed suicide... I think my bride has accurately predicted Britney’s demise.
I was looking for my favorite songs on youtube last week, and found this. It’s both beautiful and sad.
I was showing it to my 11 year old grandson.
He said, “Britney Spears is bi-polar, also.”
(I didn’t know that.)

I have a riddle for ya’ll,
“How many tax dollars does it take to get a pop-tart to the hospital?”
Sheesh, do the math...
If Britney really wanted to be left alone, she'd move away from LA and quit walking out and sitting on curbs for attention.
I'm generally not too sympathetic to the plight of Hollywood celebs but, damn! The paparazzi around Britney has gotten crazy! I've seen where there's had to have been 200 photographers blocking her every move. It's no wonder she has fender-benders in parking lots.
That was my first thought too.
