This is reprehensible!
Fox News Talk Network host John Gibson announced the sad and tragic death of actor Heath Ledger on Tuesday by mocking him and making light of his untimely passing.
Disgusting!
We've been on this creep's show before and we will boycott his show in the future, unless he issues an apology.
Here's a rundown of what happened:
"Playing an audio clip of the iconic quote, 'I wish I knew how to quit you' from Ledgers gay romance movie Brokeback Mountain, Gibson disdainfully quipped, 'Well, he found out how to quit you.' Laughing, Gibson then played another clip from Brokeback Mountain in which Ledger said, 'Were dead,' followed by his own, mocking 'Were dead' before playing the clip again."
Gibson called Ledger a "weirdo" with a "serious drug problem" and suggested that Ledger killed himself because he had "a serious position in the (stock) market" or perhaps "watched the Clinton-Obama debate last night. I think he was an Edwards guy, cause he saw his Edwards guy was just completely irrelevant."

How can you find his crass comments to have any humor or sense of timing. Has all sense of civility and decency been lost in our brave new world?
I’m with you. I don’t understand why the country goes into national mourning when some fabulously rich movie star or professional athlete dies young. I don’t know why their deaths should be of such national concern, beyond their family and friends.
One American serviceman who sacrifices his life for the rest of us is worth a hundred Heath Ledgers or Sean Taylors.
THAT my friend is funnny.
He should talk, his website has some of the worst hateful sleaziest digs anywhere.
"A Bounty On Her Head"
Advocate killing someone?
I agree this is reprehensible. And probably not even a suicide.
Another Hollywood death by an actor in a downward spiral of living in the valley of the pills.
I mourned Bhutto’s death because she died too early. She accomplished more in one day than all of these celebrities ever did in their entire lives.
Ledger was also in "The Patriot" as the oldest son of Mel Gibson's character. He turned in an excellent performance in that movie, which if you only see about one movie a year is the movie you should have seen about 8 or 9 years ago.
That’s what I thought the reference was going to be used in conjunction with...
I’ve heard that Robin Williams and Robert DeNiro were with John Belushi (at the hotel?) the night he died. Not alledging any coverup, just life choices. They should count themselves lucky that they seemingly got out of some bad habits.
More of Hollywood’s big names should speak out against the culture that saw someone (likely an adult) giving an adolescent Drew Barrymore cocaine and other drugs.
He’ll be know by the end of this year as The Joker just as Brandon Lee became known for The Crow which was posthumously released.
The studio already put out a clip from the new Batman film to cash in.
As it stands now, he’s previously known for a film that few people actually saw (his character’s name isn’t mentioned, he’s just “one of the guys from...”).
It's only reprehensible if you 'diss people of color - or Muslims.
PC -101.
>> No one should mock the death of another human being. Period. Gibson made himself and Fox News look like raging sociopaths.
It was insensitive, not sociopathic. The “offended” police need to take some time off here — this is getting ridiculous. Everytime anybody says anything that anyone finds even remotely objectionable, they tar and feather the poor sap that said it.
I dare say most people have uttered an insensitive word or two here and there — even regarding the death of another person. For instance, I recall stating upon hearing of the death of Evil Kineval that his demise was a far less interesting story than I had anticipated.
To request any more than an apology here is blowing things WAY out of proportion.
>> The image that Gibson presented is not responsible journalism and he is doing a disservice to himself, Fox News and the conservative movement.
The conservative movement? What does this have to do with “the conservative movement”?

A Media spokesman has to be circumspect in what is said.
Rush lost his football colorman position for less than what Gibson said, as did Imus, Howard Cossell, all from high profile positions, etc.
I wonder how many Freepers would have said to Jesus “Yes I’ll throw the first stone, the woman’s a harlot!”
Gibby just said he was sorry in his “My Word” segment.
>> A Media spokesman has to be circumspect in what is said.
Agreed. An apology is certainly warranted. Having his head delivered on a platter is certainly not.
>> Rush lost his football colorman position for less than what Gibson said, as did Imus, Howard Cossell, all from high profile positions, etc.
Rush WRONGLY lost his football analyst job. Imus was an idiot — though I would argue it wasn’t “less than what Gibson said”. I don’t recall the Cosell story.

Checked out any of the Anna Nicole threads around here lately?
I’m sorry but that is so funny.
Perezhilton.com is the most vicious website you can imagine. They say things about people that are so reprehensible. You should hear what he says about religious people. That being said, Gibson was stupid to mock a death like that...I don’t care who you are. I hope he realizes it and apologizes.
