January 11, 2008)--Authorities in North Carolina said late Friday morning pregnant Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach is dead.
They said shes buried in a shallow grave, for which investigators are now searching.
They identified the suspect in the case as a Marine officer whom she accused of sexually assaulting her.
Police earlier were planning to interview a man who lived with her and said he would answer questions that "will shed a lot of light on the case."
Authorities said again Friday Marine Sgt. Daniel Durham isn't a suspect, but police believe he's the last person to speak with the Marine.
She disappeared Dec. 14 ahead of her expected testimony in a military investigation into her claim a senior officer had sexually assaulted her.
Court documents show the investigation went sour amid inconsistencies in the woman's story and allegations that she's bipolar and a compulsive liar.
Search warrants show she was facing a possible discharge from the service.
Lauterbach was eight months pregnant when she disappeared.
“He also has a sister named Blanca. Dont know if thats been mentioned yet or not.”
Had not heard of his sister, do we know her last name and whereabouts?
***but why El Paso, who does Maria know in El Paso?**
I was looking for a possible reason IF Maria purchased the ticket. If she did - was it possible she had made contact with an adoptive couple who offered to take care of her and pay her expenses? Or, did she make arrangements with a Catholic Adoption agency in El Paso?
Just speculation - she had to make some plans for the baby’s delivery and it’s not clear that she had done so with her family in Ohio or in Jacksonville NC.
if LE could find out, that would be useful.
**he wanted to make sure it looked like she was going someplace, but why El Paso, who does Maria know in El Paso?*
If Laurean bought the ticket to El Paso - we could assume he planned to use it himself and left it in the car by mistake. If he bought a ticket for Maria to throw off any search for her - certainly he knew she was from Ohio and would have bought a ticket for her home area.
If Maria bought the ticket to El Paso - she must have had a reason. I suggested one reason - there may have been others - like an old boyfriend or girlfriend.
Just for fun,
Look at where El Paso sits in Texas....
It’s on the way to Mexico from NC-—
It would be a town to go to in the US if your end plan was to go over the border.
The content looks similar to me.
I thought Christine’s parents live in Ohio. Her sister and b-i-l live in J’ville.
wouldn't Maria have notified this person beforehand, even to make sure they were there?
just bookmarking, i’ll finish catching up later...
**....wouldn’t Maria have notified this person beforehand, even to make sure they were there?***
If, if, if, if that was her intent;) Remember, I’m just offering possibilities not facts in evidence.
There are probably dozens of people who have been questioned - we can only hope LE is not divulging everything they have.
BTW Heath Ledger from Brokeback Mountain was found in cardiac arrest in his NY apartment released about an hour ago. TMZ et.al are speculating suicide or accidental OD. Watching a videotaped interview - he is clutching his stomach and scratching his head- lots of tics - he could have had heart valve trouble...a medical condition.
FWIW (I can’t understand a word she said!)

Police, parents search for teen

It has been nearly three weeks since 17-year-old Ashley Ryan, a high school senior at Topsail High School went missing. Her parents and family members have spent countless hours posting fliers and searching Wilmington and areas around Florida where she has been sighted, so far without success.
Her aunt, Pamela Richardson, said Ashley went to Mayfaire Cinema 16 in Wilmington on Dec. 31 with three friends and chose a different movie, so she made arrangements to meet up with them about 5:30 p.m. When she did not arrive, her friends searched for her. The parent who went to pick up the teens called her father, Mike Ryan, to tell him she never showed up and their search was futile. He immediately called Wilmington Police Department to report his daughter missing.
Based on information obtained by the family through its efforts, Richardson said they believe Ashley walked from Mayfaire to the Juggling Gypsy Caf when she left the cinema and stayed in the Wilmington area for a couple of days.
"The Juggling Gypsy was one of her favorite places in Wilmington," Richardson said. "Her mom was passing out fliers there and someone told her she had been there."

“was there anything to a report about this?”
Heard this afternoon on either FOX or HNN they had in police custody “bloody clothes believed to have been worn by Cesar for testing along with the now bloody other shoe.”
so he just tossed bloody clothes in the clothes hamper? you'd think these would be on his burn or throw away in the dumpster across town list.
Laurean reminds of a drunk who can survive a 60 mph head on collision without a scratch.
I drove past the Sheriff’s Dept/Courthouse today. There were TV vans and equipment.....but nothing to much going on.
Outside, at least.....
A woman’s work is never done. You are awesome to make that trip. Did you take any pix? Did you see Greta there?
