Ten years after the very first list in the series -- the 100 greatest American films of all time -- AFI's experts have taken another look and movie lovers have been waiting for the result. Now, the new top 100 movies list has been revealed. The top 10 films are:
1 CITIZEN KANE

Curious about the rest of the list? Take a colorful interactive tour of all 100 movies on the list, with key art and credits for each. Then, download the official enhanced list -- where you can see which films have moved up or down -- or dropped off altogether -- compared to the 1997 list. And, the download is designed to be used as a checklist for your own "100 Movies" viewing. Enjoy!
Slingblade didn’t even make top 400.

Don’t forget the gorgeous Asian gal.
Tsui Hark's Zu: Warriors from the Magic Mountain (1983)
Need more coffee!
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof oughta be there.
So should “The Verdict”, which is, imho, the best Newman performance ever.
And I think a very strong argument could be made for “Apollo 13”
One of my personal favorites has always been the original “Postman Always Rings Twice” with Lana Turner, but it’s simply too uneven for a 100 greatest list.
But she’s still fun to look at!!!
Appolo 13 made the top 400.
Not sure where it finished.
And once again “Ishtar” gets robbed. Is there no justice in the world????
Jack Burton: Okay, I get the picture White Tigers, Lords of Death, guys in funny suits throwing plastic explosives while poison arrows fall from the sky and the pillars of heaven shake, huh? Sure, okay, I see Charlie Chan, Fu Manchu and a hundred howlin' monkey temples, and that's just for starters, right? Fine! I'm back! I'm ready, goddammit let me at 'em!
Well, I thought it was stirring at the time...
Biggest Flop ever...
Rigged indeed! How could such award winners like Farenheit 911 and Brokeback Mountain be left off the list?
To say nothing of the All-Time-most-award-winning-with-even-a-Nobel-Prize-to-its-credit "An Inconvenient Truth" not make the list?
I’m kinda partial to The Firm.
What about Urban Cowboy?
What? Thats one of my favorites....
Somewhat surprising that “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolfe” finally made it - forty something years after it was released.
It truly is one that I would call a GREAT flick. Not easy to take, but they were all brilliant in that movie.
One of the few of my favorites that I don’t have.
100 Greatest AMERICAN movies,......
I think “Chariots Of Fire” is an English film and production.
For me, not having John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara in “The Quiet Man” on the list is a serious omission. I don’t think I ever get tired of this movie.
Likewise “An American In Paris”
And how about “The Birds”?
I’m thankful that “North By Northwest” is on the list. The scene of Cary Grant on that lonely farm road and cornfield is one of the all times greatest film scenes ever!
Not even one “Carry On” movie? Outrageous! :-)
“The General” deserves to be on the list! WOO-HOO
...and RATATOUILLE!
