Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
He already had a shovel.
Heh!
We always knew he was a dwarf...
We have several, but I'd never consider digging holes for the deck foundations with them! We got Gimli several years back for earth moving, and he's proved invaluable in the digging of the holes for the footings for the deck. We're required by code to go down below the frost line, and in some cases, that made the holes at least 5' deep and since SirKit wanted to get a strong footing, he had Paul dig them, with Gimli, about 2-1/2' wide and 5' long. They look like several graves dug in the back yard. ;o) The only shovel work they had to do was to level out the bottoms of them to get the re-bar in position and pour the concrete. We got all the footings poured before the winter came, and one post done.
We're hoping for several days of mild weather in the next two weeks so we can get the rest of the posts poured because Paul and a couple of his friends are coming over on April 5th to help us start on the deck. It would be great to be ready for them to start the structure, which they could probably finish in two days with all those hands ready for work; at least the lower deck in back of the garage. But that one's important, because that's where the hot tub is going, directly onto the structure. Then we could lay the decking around it with no trouble.
You know, y’all are doin’ so much work to that house that you’re not gonna want to move...
I wisht I had a hot tub...man, this metoprolol makes me feel like crap. Like I’ve tessered through the Black Thing.
I’m half way off it, though! When I went to the nephrologist, I was on 100mg twice a day and I’m down to 50mg twice a day (with his approval). I’ve been literally breaking the little pills into fourths and decreasing it 12.5mg every three days. So far, my BP has remained at the same levels it’s been at.
I knew it never did any good. But if I come off of it abruptly, it can cause cardiac problems. So slowly and steadily...I’m decreasing the dose. Maybe I won’t feel like I’m frozen solid all the time.
Ha! All of our friends say that, but we are SO looking forward to living where it doesn't snow several months out of the year!
Right! Someplace warm! Where iced coffee doesn’t sound so bad!
Heh heh heh!!!
I am hoping that my heart function is back to normal, though, and that I can then start weaning myself off the meds.
Nah, I’ll take Iced Tea!
Of course, properly done in the South, that requires 14 lbs. of sugar per gallon.
I’m still on the lisinopril 20mg twice a day...I’ve got a bit of a hacking cough, but I’ve also got problems with allergies right now...so I don’t know which is causing it.
Ugh. I have to go to work. It’s a “critical need” shift, meaning they really need the help and will therefore pay me five more bucks an hour if I’ll come in. Still, it’s a gorgeous day.
Oh well, it’s only for four hours.
I’m a heretic. I get it unsweetened, and add my own Splenda. Of course, with enough of that, it WOULD taste like traditional ‘sweet tea’. ;o)
Us too. I was drinking it unsweetened when we got married. We “compromised” and use Sweet and Low. (I know, Splenda would probably be better).
I grew up drinking with sugar and fell in love with “Sun Tea” the summer I spent in Arizona. But now, tea with sugar (or too much Splenda) makes me gag.
Talon drinks his the same way and so do I though I drink tea much less frequently. What I have found most amusing when I have ordered cold drinks in the South is that they don’t seem to believe in ice the way I’m used to.
Too much? Not enough?
Where I'm from ice is a precious commodity.
Not enough. I remember being on vacation driving to Florida and my dad (who had lived in Northern VA) commenting on how the old lady with the ice recipe had apparently died.
It’s hard to have too much ice.
Hey, I’ve seen those and thought of ordering one. I may still have to do that.
Cool! You’ll have to let us know how it does!
I’ll keep you posted!
Gotta go...gotta get ready for work. See you tomorrow.
