GULFPORT --Old Man Winter is expected to bring bone-chilling temperatures to South Mississippi for the next several nights, with lows threatening the record 19 degrees.

The frigid forecast prompted the National Weather Service in New Orleans to issue a hard-freeze warning for Tuesday night, which forced officials in Harrison County to open an emergency shelter for the Coast's homeless and those without heat.

---Snip---

Meteorologists are expecting more of the same frigid temperatures on Thursday and Friday.

The Coast could begin thawing out by the weekend with showers and warmer temperatures creeping into the forecast by Saturday and Sunday

I think next year I’m going to celebrate Christmas in Vegas. I can’t take anymore of this white stuff. But, we’ve got 3 months left of it. So I’ll be cursing Algore quite often this winter.

Atlanta is supposed to be down to 14 degrees tonight.

My heat pump isn’t doing well.

It's noon here in Charlotte, NC and it has warmed up to 28 deg.

I just got in from another marathon run of blowing and shoveling out here in the wilds of NH and I can tell you on thing: I’m sick to death of it and it’s only the beginning of January!!

My wood furnace has been going non stop since Sunday here in Missouri.
Wood heat 7200 BTU per pound.
Burning wood emits no more co2 than decomposing wood in the forest, per pound.
So wood burning for heat is more environmentally friendly that using coal fired electricity to heat with.

Use that fireplace!

My wife said it was +5 F yesterday when she headed to work. It was warmer this morning when I took my son to work. All the way up to +9 F. Global warming. It's a heat wave!

My sister and her family are flying to Orlando, FL today for a week long vacation. It's a getaway from that terrible winter weather in San Diego. She might as well have hopped a plane to Pocatello.

exactly...algore was onto that little problem last winter when several of his lectures were cancelled in the midwest due to ICE STORMS! LOL!

Man is responsible for weather. Who knew?

I guess Dick Cheneys ray-gun on that sub under the Gulf of Mexico that caused hurricane Katrina is the proverbial tip of the iceberg?
