Just in time for Christmas, FedEx informed me they do not guarantee delivery -- because it's Christmas.
My husband's business partner sent some paperwork last night from the Chicago area. She paid extra to have "Guaranteed Delivery by 10:30." At noon, I called FedEx with the tracking number. They said it was on a truck.
I asked how to apply for a refund for the expedited service, since the package was not delivered by 10:30. The FedEx representative told me there would be no refund, since there is no guarantee at this time of year. I asked if the package would be delivered today, again, no guarantee at this time of year.
So don't waste your money on expedited shipping fees. You're better off going to the Post Office.
FedEx: Taking the service out of customer service.
The USPS gets a bit overwhelmed this time of year too.
That’s interesting. Perhaps your husband’s business partner should tell FedEx that he can’t guarantee his check will have sufficient funds. Being Christmas, and all that . . . .
If there is no guarantee, then they should not offer the service at this time. Do they have a disclaimer when you pay for the service?
Most of my clients are accepting scan copies via e-mail then sending standard overnight via FedEx. Gets there next day anyway, just not in the AM. Half the price.
unbelievable. They shouldn’t sell it if they can’t deliver it.
I wonder if I can sell some goods to fedex and then have them all break or not work as promised...then I can just say I can’t guarantee it during this time of year.
If you scream loud enough to the right people you can get your money back, but it typically isn’t worth the hassle so just posting and telling all your friends is your best revenge.
One minute people are angry because the GAP won’t say Merry Christmas and next minute people are mad because FedEX takes Christmas off.
They don’t Labor on labor day either.
With all due respect to you, I find that hard to believe. FedEx is a superb company....relentlessly focused on their core mission..excellent service. It doesn’t sound right.
I believe you missed the point. It’s not Christmas day that th package didn’t arrive. It’s the Christmas SEASON...in other words today (or maybe yesterday).

To the best of my knowledge nobody guarantees overnight delivery during Christmas. I was under the impression this was common knowledge.
I always like to let my FRiends know when a guarantee isn't guaranteed. ;)
I'm not sure. I rarely use FedEx for personal business. I go to the Post Office or UPS.
I understand that the shipping/mailing industry is overwhelmed at this time, however, if a service is offered to me, and I pay a premium for that service, then the service should be completed or I should get a refund. Simple, easy, effective and everyone is happy. Refunds suck when you own the business, but if that customer comes back repeatedly because of good customer service after a screw up; then the money gets made back. However, if say a disgruntled customer gets poor customer service after a screw up, and they fail to return, and tell others about their poor experience, influencing them not to utilize the company...just seems to me a refund would be cheaper, and less painful. That’s been my experience anyway.
B T W, I love the tagline.
