It's the most wonderful time of the year...With my Utes winning bowl games and BYU losing so I'll be of good cheer...it's the most wonderful time of the year...
--Ow! Tomatoes hurt you know. Sheesh...
During the regular season, I would normally do my fancy and mildly humorous graphical elements and those of you who would like me to feature their school's games, I would oblige. However, since we've got miles to go before we sleep, I'll re-ping the list as we go along and include said graphics. Sound like a deal? Excellent.
Tomorrow the fun will begin. (For me, at least). :)
Have you NO sense of proportion? There are 3 games on Saturday. At least take her to a sports bar so you can watch the game over her shoulder.
UCLA makes it to the Rose Bowl once every 10-12 years, and wins one every 20 or so, you would think that they would at least show up for the damn game, instead of selling their tickets to Badgers.
Considering that the late game that day is the Las Vegas Bowl featuring a team I despise with every fiber of my being (BYU) I’ll have to miss that one. :)
Good luck to your Utes and go LSU!
That and I can’t help but think that Pasadena in January is probably a lot better than Wisconsin in January.
True. I can’t help but imagine how many times on New Year’s day when it is 4 degrees outsideand snow is three feet deep in the driveway that some man in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, N.D. etc. turned on the Rose Bowl where it is 78 degrees, sun is shining and turned to his wife and said: “Myrtle, that’s it. This year we are movin to California, just like those Dodger’s did last year!”
So youd have TWO 2-loss teams playing for the title?
Is that so absurd when you’ve got a 2-loss team in the BCS Title game?
I’d just like to see Les Miles carry on like the cry baby he’s been since the pre-season when the AP trophy goes somewhere else. Les earned the cry baby title in the pre-season when he complained about SC having a soft schedule and an easy road to the NC game (not so easy in hindsight)
And Les complains about SC’s schedule when LSU is facing teams line Miss State, Mid Tennessee, Tulane and LA Tech. What a joke.
Good thing you didn’t go to an SEC school. Rest assured, if South Carolina was in a bowl game this year, I’d be watching and cheering for the opponent.
First, I will acknowledge that there will be no National Championship in Division 1A College Football. There will be the winner of the "BCS Championship Game" which determines the "champion" of the two team league formed each year by a convoluted combination of popularity, public relations, and some degree of analysis of the quality of the teams based on their performance during the season.
Having said that, most fans would like to see a playoff, say like the NFL and/or the Division 1AA, Division 2 and Division 3 schools. Keep in mind that the only true NCAA Division 1 College Football Champion lost two games, that would be Appalachian State (13-2).
Also both teams in the 2007 Super Bowl lost 4 games during the regular season and nobody seems to be demanding an asterisk after thier names in the record book.
Of course, I think there will be two 2 loss teams in the BCS Championship game at the end of the day, 12-2 LSU and 11-2 Ohio State Stinking Fruits...if you catch my meaning.
Or they could have done what my team’s former owner, Horace Stoneham did and moved where the summers are cold. ;)
Absolutely right. Before the BCS, each year their was an elected champion of whatever the hell the top level of college football is called. Now there's two teams elected to a BCS National Championship Game. No more elections! The champion of any sports league should in no way be determined by an election. Just as the next President shouldn't be determined by a poker game. Until the NCAA realizes that this is college football, not college student government, there has never been, and never will be, a true National Champion of the top level of college football.
That's basically why Pasadena exists...it was the Indiana Colony of California - which in turn probably contributes to why the Tournament of Roses Committee chose to invite the Big-10 to its exhibition game..
I recall growing up in Long Beach, where the "Iowa Picnic" was an annual event at Recreation Park well into late 60's. I am sure there are other towns that had localized ExPat populations that all came from the same area.
Michael Crabtree's List of honors getting longer
Go Red Raiders!
That will be a game I’ll have to make an effort to watch—the benefit of having our bowl game as the very first one. :)
Any of the TTU FR Contingent planning on making the trip to JAX?
Also if Michigan can get healthy (they've been banged up for most of the season) maybe they can beat Florida. Especially if Tebow gets fat and happy in his post-Heisman tour. If that doesn't work we'll have to send Jessica Simpson to the game. LOL!
