Vick given a 23 month sentence. Plus 3 years of probation. Breaking.
I know your points are very impressive since they are in caps and everything - but one, logically and reasonably, need not be a leftist to be against animal torture. Also, your cute little analogy would have been better with a 8-0 score; thus alluding to the extra bit of sentencing.
23 months, beautiful, imo, he should have gotten a little more,,,,,,,vick’s career is soooooooo over. Hey Mikey, what goes around comes around, karma in action.
Woof!
IIRC Vick waived any right to appeal when he made his deal. He's still looking at a lot more from the state charges.
roger cosack was just on ESPN explaining why the sentence was 23 months.
turns out vick lied on the FBI lie detector test about killing dogs himself and lied about the drug tests. so the judge did not subtract sentencing points.
this was not just about the charges. there are a lot of factors that vick had DIRECT control over that led to this sentence.
Had Vick committed this same crime 50 years ago, he would have received Probation or LESS. But in recent decades, all Americans (sadly including many here) have allowed themselves to be subtly, and not so subtly, brainwashed by Leftists to believe that Animals have legal rights beyond their status as property of Humans.
The logical incoherence of the Animals Rights position is truly insane, and yet sadly, so many Right Wingers buy into this whether they realize it or not.
guess I’m an animal rights leftist then. I think 2 years is appropriate for the torture and slaugter of the innocent.
He needs to be punsihed harhly before he graduates to harming children.
A condition of the deal was that he answer all questions about the illegal enterprise and his role in it. According to reports, the prosecutors and judge believe he was less than forthcoming with those answers, and then was less than honest.
If he didn't back up his end of the deal, he shouldn't be surprised that he got hit hard.
If he wants to play again, he will. In other words, if he wants to play again he will maintain his physical conditioning while in prison and be flexible about contract compensation.
Some team will pick him up at a discount price when he gets out and he will take an underdog (forgive the pun) shot at redemption.
Maybe, we don’t know what the deal was so saying they broke the deal has a lot of assumptions. Remember the fed likes to pile on extra charges if you make them go to trial, we don’t know what else they were planning on throwing at Vick or how much would have stuck and how much longer his sentence would be after that.
If you knew the law, which you obviously do not, judges ARE NOT held accountable to sentencing deals made by prosecutors. The judge does not represent the government in a court case. The judge is an independent body. Prosecutors represent the government or state.
Maybe Cleveland will pick him up.
I hope you don't eat meat.
Vick probably wishes he were a pedophile in Vermont now.
Rubbish!
The innocent are the winners today.
Ya think Vick testing positive for ganja while released awaiting sentencing most likely entered into the judge’s decision?
And Vick has no-one to blame but himself.
Place your bets here.... Monday, August 20, 2007 Michael Vick Odds! "The only thing that matters is winning football games." -Michael Vick, January 2005 You probably thought there was a good chance you'd never be able to bet on Michael Vick and the Atlanta Falcons again. Turns out, you were only half right. The wonderful people at BetUS.com, because they are awesome, have posted odds on what will end up happening to Michael Vick (the irony of odds being posted on a scandal potentially involving a gambling ring...it's overwhelming, really). They have five different props- what his suspension from Goodell will be, how much jail time he'll be sentenced to, how much he'll be fined, what random stuff he'll do before the end of 2010, and if he'll ever play again. I feel it is my civic duty to break down these lines, so thats what I shall do. (Note: For each table, the first column is the listed odds, and the second column is the real chance those odds imply for that event happening.)
I don’t think he’ll get unsuspended. Remember there’s gambling charges in there, and Goodell’s statement when he suspended Vick makes it clear that’s the part he dislikes the most. Gambling hits the heart of a sport, and that’s the part that’s going to keep Vick out of the NFL.
