It's the judge's call. A recommendation is just that, a recommendation. So Mr. Vick had the misfortune of crossing paths with a judge that loves dogs. Tough luck.

I don’t know about suiting up tonight. The NFL had the right to suspend him and they did. There’s a difference between him playing Football, which was a job and privilege, and being sent to prison for 2 years. But if the NFL had NOT suspended him, I would have had no problem with it.

All kinds of players who were facing Rape charges have been allowed to play in the NFL. Raping a woman still gives you the benefit of the doubt, but killing Dogs, well that’s the end of the world apparently...

This world is so screwed up...

You should learn that insulting people you debate with from the getgo is the mark of an a$$hole. A lesson that you are apparently too stupid or too arrogant to understand. Every time you post to me you show just how much of a complete douche bag you are. Go back to sleep

Translation: My post made you realize that Michael Vick is not a poor put-upon victim of the federal government, and you resent me for pointing it out.

But I'm sure you enjoyed putting it that way much more.

Cheers!

23 months in Federal prison and then state prison...unless the sentences can run concurrently.

It is his tough luck, and he’s surely a VERY unsympathetic defendant. BUT, this is bigger than Michael Vick in its long term implications. I have seen your posts and you seem like a very smart guy, so think about this one long and hard.

The long term elevation of Animals into an “exalted” status in our society is essentially part of the ongoing destruction of our value system by the Secular, Progressive Left Wing. By treating Animals as essentially “human” and granting them quasi-human status in terms of their legal rights, we weaken the Pro-Life argument and give credibility to the Culture of Death that the Left Wing has been trying to impose on decent American folks.

The sentence is NOT double the recommendation. The recommendation topped out at 18 months, the judge made it 23 months which isn’t even 30% more. Also in between when the recommendation was made and now Vick failed a drug test and apparently failed a lie detector test during one of his “cooperative” interviews. Vick didn’t do a good job upholding his part of the bargain, and thus showed that his contrition was just an act, so he got a few extra months thrown on, life suck when you’re a loser.

I think it is ridiculous that this even a federal issue.

I am not in favor of dog fighting, but matters like this is for the State to resolve not the federal govt.

dude, come on. this case was open and shut from the get-go. the NFL got the facts of this case before it was public i'm sure. they knew it was bad.

as for the rape stuff, that's weak. in many cases (Duke lacrosse!!!) the insiders know the charges are false simply on their face. in many others, it's he said/she said. especially when it comes to rich athletes.

it's consensual that somehow turns into "rape" with women looking for a payday.

the people involved know more about the evidence than we do and they punish or fail to punish accordingly.

You said,

“Vick probably wishes he were a pedophile in Vermont now.”

The irony is that he would surely get a LESSER sentence. In fact, he would probably a get lesser sentence in many jurisdictions, not just Vermont.

That’s the truly revolting thing about this Vick case. The vast majority of the protesters outside the courthouse calling for Vick’s head are people that do not support the death penalty or mandatory prison sentences for Pedophiles.

He’ll start in the CFL, then come back to the NFL after a couple of years.

“All kinds of players who were facing Rape charges have been allowed to play in the NFL.”

Might have been under the Tagliabu administration, but not so sure about it this year under Godell’s watch.

It is when you are involved in the operations of a multistate dogfighting and gambling ring. A pretty textbook example of a federal matter, really.

Actually your post made me realize that dealing with you in any manner is a complete waste of time, but since you're a legend in your own mind enjoy your self deluded state

Yes, many of those “rape” allegations against Athletes are proven to be lies, no question about it. But not all of them. Some of them are real, and so are the other charges against pro athletes, many of whom continue to play despite having past Felonies on their record.

The point is that if Vick were found guilty of Domestic Abuse or Aggravated Assault, or something like that, he’d be spending a lot less time in jail and we wouldn’t be talking about whether or not he had the right to a future NFL career.

As a society, our priorities are severely warped and this Vick case is a glaring example of it.

Nope, the CFL added a rule after the Ricky Williams fiasco, they no longer accept players that are suspended/ banned by other football leagues. Vick is done, he’s pining for the fjords.

I only eat fish and poultry (no mammals), and I don’t torture my food for pleasure.

That only proves that you are inconsistent if you think that killing birds and fish is OK, but killing mammals isn't.

That’s true, Roger Goodell has certainly looked like a “new sheriff in town” since taking over the NFL.
