A survey of computer operating systems market share shows an uncanny resemblance to the Democrat-Republican election map from 2004. Too bad only Democrats see the Mac OS as a superior computer platform! Click on the top map below from Market Share by Net Applications or check out the results here.
Back in the 80s, when most guys were using MS-DOS, the Mac was a good way to meet girls.
“Sure, you can use my Mac to write your paper. Come on over.”
And they got better grades just from handing in a paper that was printed out with better fonts. It was especially good with the law school chicks. I doubt that trick would work nowadays.
“And Libertarians use Linux?”
Naw, Libertarians just pirate copies of Windows.
I think their methodology is suspect...
The only thing I miss is gaming but not much. As each HP heads for the garbage pile, I'm buying the kids a Mac. So that will be 6 Republicans in the Mac category.
Heh!
Anybody that trusts this data is an idiot. It’s all FAKE!!!
Conservatives for Mac bump.
I love my Mac. My company just sent me a new work laptop loaded with Windows Vista. I hate it.
In what state does Rush Limbaugh live? ;’)
Looking at Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Michigan — I’ll go out on a limb here and posit “Reagan Democrats” are Windows users...
Yeah, the location data doesn’t make sense from a political perspective - it makes sense from an industrial perspective - where the Mac is popular, you have a large population engaged in high-tech pursuits or who are educated and have access. Of course that does trend to the younger side, which the younger folks do lean towards the left. In the end, I think it’s more significant that it’s heavy in high-tech areas (which bodes well for Apple stock ;-) ).

Do Macs still not allow you to turn it off or on except with a paper clip through a pin hole on the side? That really, really irritated me - their computers were “unbreakable” and “self-fixing”. Yeah, right.
Re: the universal Mac tool (paperclip)
Some earlier Macs had a recessed reset button that you needed something such as a ballpoint pen to depress to use but that has not been the way to force a shut down for years. This was a safety measure that prevented accidental shutdown and data loss. IIRC, the last Mac with a recessed reset button was the Pismo Powerbook.
The Universal Mac Tool was used to force the opening of the CD drawer or to remove a floppy from the buttonless floppy drive.
Currently, you force a shutdown ( if necessary) by holding the power button for about ten seconds.
Apple is the computer of creatives (graphic designers, video editors, etc). Unfortunately, there are too many of us that lean left. I guess I'm one of the exceptions.
Dude, that is so old. Besides, Macs have always been easy to shut down using a drop down menu. The pin hole was in case of a lockup. Windows PCs did not have it ... instead you had to unplug the machine when it locked up.
Your quote I don’t know where comes from.
As for the stupid pinhole, Windows PC you didn’t have to unplug - duh. It would have to be severe to do that. Mostly you just pressed the big, fat power button, which Macs didn’t have for “off”. Easy to shut down? When it was locking up, you couldn’t USE the menu!!!!
Oops. Forgot to cut and paste. My bad.
Never said you could. I was just stating where the shut down was located. And yes ... macs have always had a power button. The pin hole was for lockups.
In Wasilla, Alaska we have two Apple stores. I visit them often and they are usually pretty busy. I’m not sure but I think the owner of one of them has a conceal permit. Only in Alaska.
