Do Macs still not allow you to turn it off or on except with a paper clip through a pin hole on the side? That really, really irritated me - their computers were “unbreakable” and “self-fixing”. Yeah, right.

Re: the universal Mac tool (paperclip)

Some earlier Macs had a recessed reset button that you needed something such as a ballpoint pen to depress to use but that has not been the way to force a shut down for years. This was a safety measure that prevented accidental shutdown and data loss. IIRC, the last Mac with a recessed reset button was the Pismo Powerbook.

The Universal Mac Tool was used to force the opening of the CD drawer or to remove a floppy from the buttonless floppy drive.

Currently, you force a shutdown ( if necessary) by holding the power button for about ten seconds.

Apple is the computer of elitists.

Dude, that is so old. Besides, Macs have always been easy to shut down using a drop down menu. The pin hole was in case of a lockup. Windows PCs did not have it ... instead you had to unplug the machine when it locked up.
