This website (safetyonlinepage.com) consistently comes up as my home page when I have not listed it in my 'Internet Options' as a home page. How can I stop it from doing this? Any ideas? I ran McAfee and it quarantined a virus today but safetyonlinepage.com keeps coming up as my home page. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! lesko
IE?
Firefox?
Netscape?
we need to know your Operating System and which Browser you use.
I sent you a FReepmail. Happy to help you work thru this.
Before the crowd hits how may sypware, malware, etc. products do you run on a regular basis.
These are the ones I run (all are free) and I havent had my home page stolen in years:
Ewido
Spyblaster
Spyware Terminator
Spybot
Run them once a week.
It might be something called a Hosts file redirect. Do a search for a file named hosts (no extension). Depending on your OS it will be in a path similar to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc. If you double click the hosts file, it will as you which program to open it with. Choose Notepad. If you see any reference to this safetyonline.com site or your original homepage in the document, let us know cause that's your problem.
Doesn’t sound like you are a tech heavy...

Throw your Windows computer away and get a Mac. Today is the big sale - $100 dollars off.
Windows doesn’t make computers.
Microsoft Windows XP
Version 2002
I run McAfee
Okay - I did that and did not see any reference to that webpage. Any other ideas?
I would try and run some free virus scans. Each of the following anti-virus companies offer a free online virus scan. If you’ve picked up a particularly new virus, it might not be picked up by the virus scanner you have installed. Also, I would look into one or more of the anti-malware applications that doc1019 mentioned in post #5. Lastly, make sure that you’ve got all of the latest patches and updates from Microsoft. Make sure you’ve got all of the updates for Office and other applications, too.

Run Pc Tools spyware doctor.
I had the same problem. This finds the Trojan virus.
