Ewww! That is nasty.
Not when you lay a sleeping bag on top.
We stayed in a hotel at the Nashville airport. When we pulled the covers back, it looked like an episode of CSI, complete with the used condom.
They offered to BRING us a clean set of sheets so I could change the bed. And yes, this was a major chain that started with the letter H.
Our first house was older, so staying in a nice hotel was kind of a treat when we traveled. But our current home is new enough that we couldn’t afford to stay anywhere that would be nicer than what we have at home - so hotel stays have lost their shine for us....
Yeah...I'm that old...;)
yeah, but did you save 15% by switching to GEICO?
A friend of mine who used to be a stweardess tells me they all used to put their soiled panties in the carafe with a drop of detergent and then run clear water through the drip. Let soak a while and rinse. Nice clean panties for morning.
With a 5th Wheel, motorhome, or travel trailer you carry your bathroom, shower and bed with you!----You have your own fridge and no one's knocking on your door.
I'm tired of being squished in an airplane seat or planes delayed (I once spent 10 hours at O'Hare)....tired of rude maids and bad service...and questionable cleaning practices...
I figure the initial investment is worth it to never fly anymore, or wonder just how clean those sheets are.
Think bedbugs and lice!
Sing it! EXACTLY what I think.
If the maid sniffs my washcloth it’s going to crinkle her nose!
The bottom of your sleeping bag hates you.

Now, that I did not need to know.
Holy Moley!!!
You also don’t want to know the bacterial count of the ice in those machines down the hall. They’re supposed to be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized on a regular basis. How often do you think that happens at Motel 6?
Well, I'm not going to let you. (And I would never stay in a Motel 6, anyway. They wouldn't let me bring two furry kids to the room, last time I tried, many years ago.)
I have some background in bacteriology, so it’s wise not to get me started. :)
As others on this thread have pointed out, obsessing over germs and cleanliness can be counter-productive. There is considerable evidence that excessively clean environments weaken our immune systems sufficiently to leave us vunlerable when the inevitable challenge appears.
I just don’t worry about it much.
I do appreciate my cell phone, however, as I always thought the most disgusting common practice was talking into a public phone, which from a microbiological viewpoint is essentially equivalent to kissing all the recent users on the lips.
You been snooping in my daughter in law's house, haven't you! (I'd rather sleep in a hotel than there.)
the next day we were checking out and the people in front of us were checking out of our original room....you guessed it...they reported the hair was still there in their room....
so the management really didn't care about fixing the problem...simply having a housekeeper go clean again...he just wanted to get the room rented no matter what...
the one thing I never do in motel/hotel rooms is lie on the bed spread..I always toss it aside and bring my own blanket to lie on or to cover up with....I don't think they wash those things between rentals.....
My background is medical - mostly my own research. And I know what you mean. When I worked for a pediatrician - he told his patients to not sterilize the bottles and nipples - because when the baby started crawling, and putting everything in it's mouth, it would not have built up any immunity. I have always agreed with his teachings.
But, I would never have imagined people doing such nasty stuff in a hotel room. I bring my own paper cups, and sanitizing spray, and cover the remote with a baggie - but the sheets? And, now the glasses and the coffee pot? What is wrong with people?
