A pretty cheesy article if you ask me. What is a freeper to make of it. Perhaps this is a metaphor for our current political tastes? Blue cheese states. Bavarian Swiss marching in Washington. French socialist creamy chevre “biscuits.”

Mimicking independent minded politicians Hendricks, 34 said “I don’t want to be labeled. We just wanted to have a positive impact on the life of people. Hmmm sounds like a B. Obama speech.

And how about this comment on our current politicians long campaign for the nomination? “They’re ripened and aged on racks for up to eight months, some brined to promote the growth of mold.”

And a sarcastic comment on the union costs to Detroit...”Because it is so labor-intensive, domestic artisan cheese prices tend to be steep”

And come on now... these are obviously names aimed at our primary candidates: Take a look at the selection at Whole Foods or Genuardi’s and you’ll see brands like Fat Cat (Mitt Romney), Pipe Dreams (Tom Tancrado), Misty Morning (Dennis Kuchinich), Hooligan (John McCain) and the extremely popular Humboldt Fog (Ron Paul).

Of course my theory could have more holes in than say Swiss cheese but if you post a cheese story on the Freeper Forum you are bound to get some cracker to comment.

You called! :)

Mmmm...I love cheese.

I saw a show on "The Travel Channel" and the guy visited this family in New Jersey who had a farm that made specialty cheeses. The cheeses are so popular that restaurants from France call to have them shipped over seas.

They should name cheeses made in the United States after the locations from which they originated, or at least no copies of European cheeses. (The same things goes for wine).

And they shouldn't diss M.J. cheese. Colby and that are some of the few United States origin cheeses with American names, and Colby's just a type of cheddar (after Cheddar in the UK).

Come on, a little American pride here.

And I thought I had read somewhere that all women from WI loved hamburgers.

I'll have to look up that farm you mentioned.

Bobolink Dairy in Vernon. I know exactly where that farm is. Thanks!

Being it’s in New Jersey, you’d think that instead of the Bobolink Dairy they’d call it the BadaBing Dairy.

“It turns out, American cheese makers are now holding their own against even ‘les fromageries’ of France.”

I work with a guy who has a herd of 150 milking goats. He sells his milk to the local artisan cheeseheads and along with the cash, gets back some product, which he labels as his own and sells. (His wife is starting to do the “Goat Milk Soap” thing.)

Having cared for goats myself as a child, I hate them with the white-hot intensity of a thousand suns. However, that cheese (especially the brie) is to die for! :)

He’s leaving our employ this winter. After seven years of milking goats, he can finally make enough to support his family and be self-sufficient on his farm. :)

Just 12 miles up 101 from me. She sells at the farmers markets here plus the Co-Op... HUMBOLDT FOG etc

”Anybody can make cheese - it’s not that complicated,”

It depends on the kind of cheese and the time you have. My old neighbor always made ricotta.

"Velveeta, sorry I've got to say this but you don't know Jack," the Swiss ham at the deli said wryly as he made a turkey sandwich.
