Rowling Says Dumbledore Is Gay

J.K. Rowling, author of the world-wide best-selling Harry Potter series, met some of her American fans tonight and provided some surprising revelations about the fictional characters who a generation of children have come to regard as close friends.

In front of a full house of hardcore Potter fans at Carnegie Hall in New York, Rowling, sitting on the stage on a red velvet and carved wood throne, read from her seventh and final book, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," then took questions. One fan asked whether Albus Dumbledore, the head of the famed Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcraft, had ever loved anyone. Rowling smiled. "Dumbledore is gay, actually," replied Rowling as the audience errupted in surprise. She added that, in her mind, Dumbledore had an unrequited love affair with Gellert Grindelwald, Voldemort's predecessor who appears in the seventh book. After several minutes of prolonged shouting and clapping from astonshed fans, Rowling added. "I would have told you earlier if I knew it would make you so happy."

In answer to the question "Did Hagrid marry?" Rowling replied that sadly, no. The half-giant had a flirtation with a giantess but she found him "a tad unsophisticated" and the relationship never went forward. In response to the audience's groans of dismay, Rowling said, jokingly, "O.K., I'll write another book." And when the audience continued to express disapproval added, "at least I didn't kill him."

Other minor characters, according to Rowling, came to happier ends. Neville Longbottom, Harry's meek and hapless classmate, married Hannah Abbott, another classmate.

Nor for that matter does RatBoy recall any gay themes or characteristics relating to any of the characters, though he did comment that Dumbledor was soft spoken.

I saw him as the type who didn't really speak unless he had to.

I guess you have to be one to see one...

Oh boy. LMAO Here are some flame-retardant pants. ;-)

The Force stuff is primarily (though it is becoming less so) merely an attempt at a more sophisticated way to have 'superheroes.' Superpowers with style, if you will.

In contrast, wizardry and witchcraft are explicitly denounced Biblically. At most, the Force stuff if you try to delve deeply into it is more related to 'Eastern' religions. Reading about people who have other religions is not necessarily a bad thing. And then there are the huge parts of Star Wars which don't have to do with the Force (the 'secular' stuff, you could term it) such as Han Solo, Chewbacca and smuggling (Han Solo was effectively a drug smuggler--you could criticize that), and the Republic/Rebellion and Empire (and other governments) conflicts.

As for the username, as stated, until recently the 'religion' behind the Force was basically glossed over. It did not play a vital role in the story.

Sort of have a similar opinion about Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars.

George Lucas has a litany of what he considers Palpatine to be and represent, but even though he is the 'inventor' of Emperor Palpatine, can choose whether to use Lucas' intent or not.

Palpatine is a reminder that having a Senator as an all powerful Emperor is a bad idea.

Right, Hillary!™?...

So far, Star Wars seems to be homosexual-free.

Oh dear god....

CAN’T YOU AMERICANS GRASP THAT SHE WAS JOKING....... , she wasnt being serious, just as Robbie Williams wasnt when she said to a US interviewer that he ‘was into bum sex and heroin.....’.

Get a clue, America, please. I like you, but Americans have never understood the dry sarcastic/ironic British sense of humour.

Sorry, but truly the stereotype that Americans ‘dont get irony’ is true. Why do you people take everything SO literally?.

The problem was, she was in a room full of young adults. The concept of sarcasm isn’t developed until mid-teens. FWIW, I really don’t think she was joking. I hope she was, but she shouldn’t have said it.

No matter what you call it (superpowers, witchcraft, The Force) it all boils down to some humans having powers and abilities that ordinary humans do not. There is no devil-worship in the Harry Potter series. It is stated several times in the series that the wizards and witches are born with their abilities, it's not something ordinary people can learn.

If Harry Potter had been published by Marvel Comics, he would have been called a mutant.

Patrick Stewart isnt gay!.

The man is divorced and is currently shacked up with a lovely young British actress in her 30’s.

Please stop assuming a polite/posh ‘British accent’ (whatever that is) means gay...

You can put more than one recipient in the "To:" box, just separate them with semi-colons.

Much less annoying than repeating the same message over and over, FYI.
