Researchers don't know whom the Trafford canoes belonged to.
I would think they would just check the ship's log.

"But I tell you: I wouldn't cross this lake in a canoe like this, not with all the alligators out there. Maybe the Indians had more influence with their young men, but I would have had to say, No."Lol!

Few remember that the Calusa were either eliminated or assimilated into the invading Seminoles who came down from Georgia.

Do you think they played dice in the canoes? That would be a floating crap game. They probably used a log table as a gaming surface.

During a dry spell a few years ago, some canoes were exposed, but then rains raised the lake level and water covered them.
"Over the years, I've heard stories about people's grandfathers who'd say, Hey, there are canoes in Lake Trafford,"' Blaylock said.
But, I thought these low water levels were caused by global warming?!

10 and 87 old junker canoes just parked in the backyard. Definitely rednecks.

How nice!
Now Bill Clinton can take that hot thousand year-old mummy-ette he swooned over for a proper vintage canoe ride down the Potomac river.

I wonder when it was that the Indians got the hang of making log canoes that would actually float instead of sinking. If we could determine that, it would make dating all these sunken canoes somewhat easier...
