Can I get some help from the Freeper Mac contingent?

Direct connect your mac into your router using a network cable, go to the website for the manufacturer of your wireless network USB dongle, look to see if they have any Mac drivers for it.

You have to set up your wireless network on Mac and type the $ sign before your network encryption key. After that you should be online. It works for me!

Looks like your mac is doing about the same as what ours is doing at work, acting as an expensive doorstop because we couldn’t get it networked.
Hope you kept your PC handy.

You never should have bought a Mac in the first place. Canned Spam.

You’ve got a Mac...but it’s an old - like 7 years I’m guessing - old Mac. The screen you’ve got is the old Mac OS, not X. It would help to know the hardware specs on it (speed, memory, hard disk size) to know where you should go from here.

You bought a *very* old Mac that’s running Mac OS 9. You need to upgrade it to Mac OS X ASAP (mostly because drivers for the now 8 year old version of software you have are going to be hard to find.)

Perfect, Your Mac is about as minimal as you can get to run OSX. I would not install anything but OSX.3 Panther on that model. Even that will be very slow on a 333MHz iMac. I don't recommend installing OSX on anything less than a 450MHz Mac.
Here is the data on that particular iMac:
Fruit flavored 333MHz iMacs.
According to the website above, OSX 10.3.9 (Panther) is the most up-to-date OS you can install on this machine.
On October 5th, your iMac will be at least 8 years old. That's when it was discontinued.
You'll have to find a CD install set of OSX.3 to install it on this particular iMac because I think that model only has a CD-ROM reader. If you want to keep OS9, you can purchase and install this:
WIFI solution for older non-airport ready Macs.
and that should solve your wireless problem. Keep in mind that the USB WIFI dongle sells for more than the value of your iMac.
If you stay with OS9.2, you will be limited to using Internet Explorer 5 for Mac or Netscape Navigator 7 and many of the more modern things on the internet will probably not display correctly because those are antique browsers. If you upgrade to Panther, you can use Safari and most of the internet will work fine.
I hope this helps.
