The word "tyro" is hardly a newcomer to Western language. It comes from the Latin "tiro," which means "young soldier," "new recruit," or more generally, "novice." The word was sometimes spelled "tyro" as early as Medieval Latin, and can be spelled "tyro" or "tiro" in English (though "tyro" is the more common American variant). Use of "tyro" in English has never been restricted to the original "young soldier" meaning of the Latin term. Writers in the 17th and 18th centuries wrote of tyros in various fields and occupations. Herman Melville used "tyro" to refer to men new to whaling and life at sea. More recently, The New York Times Book Review and Rolling Stone used the noun attributively (that is, directly before another noun), referring to a "tyro sleuth" and a "tyro director," respectively.

I love those books.....the whole set, not so fond of the moveis though. Have fun.

I have alway loved the Bourne books, but for the life of me I can not get into the “Legacy” one. I think I’ve read maybe 4 chapters of it. I’ve always been able to devour those books in a matter of days.
The comments were pretty funny.

Jellybean is forever putting things in her mouth...still doing this at over 2-1/2.
When she was Ava's age, she almost swallowed a penny....and another time her mom actually retrieved half of a bug from her mouth.
Her little friend at church (same age) swallowed a nickel the other day.
Prayers indeed....
Getting better if she’s chattering ...
She got to the new hospital at 5am and has already had a CAT scan and diagnosis is the same. Her bowels are twisted up which is probably what happened as she “swam” in her baby pool. The docs are getting ready to put an NG tube in as of course she will NOT drink the stuff. They are saying barium enema and talking about her drinking this...so someone with some medical experience will have to explain all this to me. The local ER doc thought this might cure her without surgery and is usually tried? Whatever, I am just praying it works and they do not have to cut open our little two year old baby.
And hubby says we hit BOTH deer from the signs on the car this morning. Damage is to the passenger headlights only....they work but need new casings. When I saw two deer blocking the entire highway and we were going a good 65 mph I thought we were doomed. I figured they would be picking us up off the highway and taking us right back to the ER that we just left.
G - she had her entire chest and abdomen xrayed and no foreign bodies were spotted. The xrays were unclear about the bowel problem as well,which is why the CT scan.
Robt - the pain eased and is only mild now, but the docs say it can change and put her in that horrid pain or worse. She screamed for over an hour, the docs got to see it and it scared the medic who brought her in the ambulance. I could hear it over the phone - Ava was screaming in terror, it was heartbreaking.
Fortunately, her REAL grandparents raced up to the new hospital this morning and we got to sleep in. We are going up later to take up a recharged cell phone and a car seat...Ava’s mom got urine and vomit all over her and must be really ripe by now. She will most likely need some clean clothes.
Aggggh, I can’t wait for this to be over. Keep the prayers coming.

The only thing I know about Barium is that my oldest had to drink it before she had imaging done on her stomach and intestines.
Nasty stuff...I’m not sure how you coax a scared little girl into drinking it.
The latest update came in and they RULED OUT anything that might require surgery and she is being kept there another night, then if nothing more happens she will be released tomorrow. Thank God. I just talked to her dad and grandmother and they are relieved. The fever has broken and she is off meds for that. Yikes, but that was a harrowing night. It is almost over.

Some babies are born with that potential problem..apparently that was the worse it could have been, but it was NOT the problem. They just got the results of the CT scan and it was negative. Until a few minutes ago they were still saying it was the bowel thing, which was scary. We got the call through her grandma and she said it was the final diagnosis, I am so relieved to hear it wasn’t. Thank God! They have no real diagnosis NOW, although they were all convinced it was the worst. She will be home tomorrow barring any thing more. I am so relieved.
