Ohio Student Gets Suspended For Stadium Prank
A meticulously organized high school prank is more than the subject of hallway gossip. It's also a hit on the Internet.
An Ohio student tricked football fans from a crosstown rival school into holding up squares of construction paper at a stadium to spell out a message. The fans were told it would read "Go Darby." Instead, it spelled out "We Suck."
And the 20 hours spent snapping pictures, mapping out the bleachers, and strategically placing the construction paper ultimately earned the organizers thousands of viewers on YouTube -- not to mention a three-day suspension.
Students at Hilliard Davidson High School said Kyle Garcher and a couple of his accomplices are also banned from participating in school activities for a semester.
Garcher said he was inspired by a similar prank pulled by Yale students in 2004, when Harvard fans were duped into holding up cards with the same message.
I live in Columbus. It was the perfect prank. No violence, damage or hurt feelings. There should be no punishment for these kids, but anal PC “educators” are going to screw them.
Did the guy holding the W realize there is no W in Go Darby?
There was no way to tell by a single card what the letter would ultimately be.

Somebody give that kid a pat on the back for creativity and initiative! The suspension is well worth it!
HAHAHA that’s hilarious! Imagine that at the college level though—if some Ohio State fans pulled that on Michigan fans at a football game. All hell would break loose.
First thought I had.
Maybe not hurt feelings but I'll bet the rivals didn't take too kindly to it and will plan some kind of retaliation that won't be so harmless.
The concept and the prank were invented more or less by Cal Tech students in the 60s who did the same thing during a game (possibly a bowl game).
This prank is funny because people were not expecting to see those words. The chicken crossing the road joke is funny, too, because people expect the answer to be funny and it isn't. That’s partly why the people in TN call watermelons “watermelons.”
This post is an example of degeneration in progress, so it is best I desist from further writing, but before I do I would like to propose "cardenfreude" as a fresh portmanteau.
Okay, I see now, cool:)
I don’t quite get the watermelon reference but you get an A for using the WFTD!
That was probably among the most famous college student pranks of all time, to say the least.

OK, so it's derivative of the Yale one (above). STILL EPIC.
Dee Dee Dee!!
This trick is so old I think Moses used it on Pharoah’s Army.
Ridiculous that there was any suspension. It was a really good prank, and no one got hurt. Good gravy, no one can have any fun anymore.
