I’d like to see how those who criticize her handled themselves in a high stress situation in front of a lot of people when they were her age.

The spoof of “Miss West Carolina” on youtube is very funny. Talking about maps.

Mrs. Laz (if any) allows you to be chasing girls young enough to be your grandaughter?WOW! You're right! If I had a child at the age of 13, who had one at the age of 13, she COULD be my grandaughter!

I still don’t understand how she worked south africa into her answer..it was south africa, wasn’t it?
To: JamesP81
I heard her answer four times, and I still have no idea what she said.As nervous as she appeared to be, I doubt she knows what she was trying to say either.

Her answer, in its entirety, was: I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uhmmm, some people out there in our nation don't have maps and uh, I believe that our, I, education like such as, uh, South Africa, and uh, the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should, uhhh, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., uh, should help South Africa, it should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future, for us. The question clearly caught Upton by surprise.
What an idiotic question! It would have caught me off guard, too. With time to consider, though, I'd have come up with a great response, such as, "Twenty percent of Americans are either drunk or on drugs at any given moment, and our public schools don't teach geography even to those who are clean and sober."

Not me. In fact, I long for the day that I get asked such a question in a public forum, so I can snappily reply, "1 in 5 Americans can't find the US on a map because 1 in 5 Americans are certifiable dumba****s, made so by our public schools and kept so by the Media and Hollywood."

RULES, gentlemen. What has happened to following the rules?

My answer: "Clearly somebody voted twice for Bill Clinton. Now we know who."

Miss South Carolina Teen USA explains herself... No need to explain herself. She is 17, was essentially "taking a test" on national TV and had a Major League case of stage fright.
When speaking in public without a script, some people have a really hard time putting together a coherent sentence.

Her response sounds much better than most replies I have heard from liberals, Democrats and the Ron Paul crowd when asking them to describe their knowledge of Iraq including our troop Surge.
To: Lazamataz
Someone told this girl that whatever the question is just make sure you mention Iraq and South Africa. Then it became clear that there was no way to mention them in an educated way and what we have is the final product.
To: Lazamataz
I'm willing to cut her slack. She was probably just nervous. (if I suck up, can I get a date?) Sure!
Just remember that she is only 17.
