Ever want to know what your cat is trying to tell you? By listening to their meow and following the clues of body language it is easy to figure out what your cat is trying to tell you. The pitch, volume and amount of meowing offer the keys to unlocking the message you are being sent. Responding to your cats meows in a consistent way will help your cat know exactly how to tell you things. For starters here are the most common cat meows translated for us human care givers.

One short meow Translated : "Hello", "see me", and "hi" Explanation: A short meow is a just your cat saying "Hi" and making sure you see her.

I don’t want to be a busy body but three things:
1) Never de-claw your cat as they don’t just remove the claw, they remove a digit.
1a) Supposedly they now have a human way to remove the claws and only the claws. Never de-claw an outside cat for oviouls reasons.
2) Please, if at all possible, keep all your cats indoors. They live longer, they don’t get diseases and they seem to be more affectionate.
3) Spay or neuter your cats. They breed worse than rabbits it seems and then contribute to the ever growing feral colonies.
Good luck with your kitties. I love em and try to place as many ferals as possible working with our local volunteer agencies.

Thank you for getting you precious kitties from a shelter. You just saved some cat’s life or two or three.

You’re not going to believe this, but we have a cat who is the spitting image of Anna, but ours is a boy. I’m assuming she’s yours? She’s gorgeous!

Zeke and my Gwegowee could be twins. Here she is ...

... and here she is ...

Gwegowee was a stray that I would feed every day. I decided when the weather turned very cold that she needed to come in and join The Magic Kingdom. I spent weeks calling sweetly to her, petting her, then holding her, then one fine day I grabbed her! LOL She thought I'd gone mad. Took a long time for her to settle in and the other cats thought I'd lost my mind. G.G. took to her right away but then G.G. is Miss Congeniality. Joey said "I hate you. I'll kill you. Get off my planet" and he still chases after the poor thing but then Joey is Mr. Anti-Congeniality. But she is now doing well. She's been spayed (YES this is when we discovered that Gregory is a She LOL and I thought about giving her a proper She name, but she knew the sound and the cadence and the voice of us calling to her 'Gregory!' and so we switched it to just Gwegowee ... it has made little difference to her as long as the food is forthcoming. She's still a little scaredy-cat and she still likes to go outside every day but now she knows well to come back IN to the Magic Kingdom and eat well and sleep well and live well ... 'cept for Joey-thorn-in-her-side. LOL Poor thing.

... and oh yes! Zeke is a very intelligent little critter! Wow. Dragging loaves of bread around LOL LOL His way of ringing the dinner bell. The more you hear about cats and their behaviors and their personalities, the more amazing you realize these little animals are. Astounding little characters. Mew.

Anna’s beautiful!!! Wow. Is she a Himalayan? Wow. Gorgeous. (love your Mission chair as well LOL just bought one for my mom for her birthday and she just loves it ... she’s finally comfy! We’ve covered ours over though with slipcovers as ... well, you know ... living with felines! Even though I snip their claws down? Sweetie is a non-clippable Magic Kingdom denizen. I’d REALLY have to call the blood bank if I tried to snip Sweetie (who’s not)

yeah...she's a ragdoll. So is Baby.

Anna had a litter but could not produce enough milk so they sold her.

She is the sweetest, most gentle creature...except around Hispanics. {{{chuckle}}}

Thank you! I love them all so much and I’d be devastated if anything happened to them. They are INDOOR babies ... except for Gwegowee who was born and raised (I guess) outdoors and refuses to cooperate and mom’s cat Suzie Q whom mom let go outside for years and years and so also refuses to cooperate. sigh ... she’s part Siamese and if you refuse her? You’ll end up in the looney bin listening to her yowl and yowl and yowl and yowl and yowl ... lol Brat.

HARDY HAR HAR!! (Ok, that was funny though!)

It’s weird - because I thought for sure Blue is a ragdoll. I rescued him from the Humane Society within a day or so of when he was brought in. I’m sure he would have been snatched up by someone else - so pretty and only a year old. In all my research and photos I saw after I took him home, I was so excited I had a ragdoll. But then the vet told me he’s a blue-point Siamese. I’m not sure how it overlaps - could he be both?

I’ll have to post a pic - they could be IDENTICAL twins.

I know exactly what you mean. Thank God I work at home so much so I can take care of them. We have one outdoor one (he adopted us from the renters' house across the street, it was like 'Cops' over there 24-7), and he sprays...we neutered him, give him his shots, food and water, love, etc.

Yesterday I told the Petsmart man I am like the crazy cat lady who doesn't want to leave her house except to buy cat food... fotflol. Actually, I mainly feed them a good brand of fit for human consumption food (non-Petsmart), but still have to pick up other things like toys and treats...

Please do post a photo...would love to see him.

If you pick up Blue just behind his front legs and let the rest of his body hang...it's a ragdoll if it hangs like a limp...well...RAG! LOL!

Any other cat will be able to raise his rear legs to remove some of your skin.

Ragdolls..as a breed should never be allowed out of the house..for they are too docile and don't protect themselves (as a rule).,p>They have a full ruff...like a lion's mane.

Anna is a lilac mitted Ragdoll...Baby is a blue-mitted and has sapphire blue eyes (see photo above)

PS...think you and I would get along if we kept immigration off the table. LOL!

Yeah. I’m on disability (Mixed Connective Tissue Disease) and mom takes care of me (she’s retired) and so we’re home with the group all the time just about. We do PetSmart too but we feed them a mix of canned food for breakfast and dinner and dry food and water at will (and well, yes, table scraps. They LOVE chicken livers LOL) ... and of course, yes, the treats and the toys! Feather toys! They go manic.

Wow... well, mine are all wearing their little La Migra shirts right now and know how to call Sheriff Joe’s hotline on speed dial... :0)

I can’t believe it - this was destiny, lol. OK, I’ll go look for a photo. What is a good hosting service to use now? I haven’t posted a pic in so long.

Hmmmm, he does go limp to a certain degree, and you’re right about the personality. I used to let them outside if I could supervise - we have a gated yard away from the coyotes, but I stopped doing that. But, he doesn’t like being picked up so he’s not that floppy really. And now he’s a little chunky even though I exercise him every night.

Photobucket.com is a free hosting site.

I've got many great photos of my cats...but they're on my office computer hard drive.

I have several of Anna you would love.

Good luck gathering your pics.

Oh no! Wow, I bet the cats are a big comfort to you if/when you're not feeling well. They always seem to know...
They love those feather toys, for sure. Some of mine like bread, pizza, chicken and salmon, the meat in Taco Bell tacos...The girls are trim but the boys need a kitty treadmill.
