Suspect is charged in three Newark murders (Illegal Alert)

In a courtroom filled with family members, Jose Carranza pleaded not guilty this morning to three counts of murder, attempted murder, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and weapons possession in the execution-style murders of three college students behind a Newark elementary school Saturday night. Carranza, 28, of Orange, wearing an orange jumpsuit, showed no emotion as he sat in court with his hands cuffed and communicated via a Spanish-speaking translator. Families of both the suspect and the victims filled the courtroom, though they said nothing. Mayor Cory Booker, Essex County Prosecutor Paula Dow and Sheriff Armando Fontoura were also in court. Carranza's bail was continued at $1 million. After the proceeding, sheriff's officers escorted the victims' kin out of the courtroom. Then, Carranza's mother and brother were led out. None spoke with the press. Assistant Prosecutor Thomas McTigue disclosed that there is an immigration detainer on Carranza. Carranza's attorney, Felix Lopex-Montalvo said his client is undocumented, an illegal immigrant from Peru. Carranza, who lives in Orange with his wife and a daughter described as 1 or 2 years old, was facing two sets of criminal charges even before police identified him as a suspect in the Newark triple murder. Court records show he was charged with aggravated assault and weapons counts stemming from a bar fight last October. In the more serious case, he was charged under an alias, Jose Larchire, with repeatedly raping a girl over a four-year period. The assaults began when the child was almost 5 years old, according to an indictment handed up last month. The alleged attacks ended in January. Carranza was free on bail and awaiting trial in both criminal cases when he turned himself in Thursday.

I am livid about this whole thing. Here in NC we’ve lost several good citizens recently to drunk illegals killing them in head on collisions.

But the government (spit) won’t do anything to stop any of this in any way that will change the current situation in any material way.

We’ll have to do that part ourselves.

From what I read in the paper, this @#$%$ called a lawyer who had represented him with other offenses — and this lawyer was also a friend of the mayor — who than called the mayor and asked if he could deliver him in person. Which he did.

It is my guess that this #@$%$ was afraid of being picked up by the police and taken in. Wily, cowardly SOB.

Not necessarily. An illegal immigrant recently raped and killed a girl in Oregon. He had multiple DUIs and could have been reported to immigration. If the local sheriff asked about immigration status in the first place. According to him, "I've never asked if someone is legal or illegal. It's none of my business." That's the sheriff talking there, folks.

That attitude is why a girl in Oregon and three kids in Newark are dead.

I don’t understand why she thinks the men being spanish would keep it from being gang related.

I highly doubt that the men are from Spain anyway.

OK I will speak for my county here in Oregon.

We do INS holds I have a link to our roster if you’d like to see for yourself.

By the way they just found another young gal (prostitute from another state) murdered here in Oregon. She was young enough and innocent looking that the street life had not shown up on her face yet. Or what was her face.

Her body was left not just dumped not to far from a main hwy. (IIRC) and the police were real tight lipped even shooshing away media who were getting to close.

They are from South America.

Exactly. Which means they aren't "Spanish" any more that I am "English."

Just a thought, I don't know; but, Newark seems to be a recipient from grants from The Praxis Project. The Praxis Project also has a few lawyer groups affiliated with them.

The Praxis Project:

Materials from other LGBT Community Foundations

Building Diverse Community-Based Coalitions
by the Praxis Project,
www.thepraxisproject.org/tools/Coalition_Building_2pdf.pdf
– offers a 5-page overview with practical suggestions about
some of the steps an organization can take to include a
broad base of communities, and how to identify potential
allies, understand their connection to your community, and
engage their interest in collaboration.

(snip)

National Coordinating Committee for the US Social Forum; social justice leaders from across the US who work on issues including environmental justice, poverty, racial justice, immigration, and workers’ rights.

blah blah blah

The World Social Forum (WSF) model is spreading around the world and a wide range of grassroots organizations and networks have announced the location of the first U.S. Social Forum (USSF)

(snip)

blah, blah.....“For us immigrants, the growth of our new communities here have been met not only with repressive policies, racist backlash, abuse and exploitation in the workplace, and scapegoating for socio-economic problems suffered by working class communities, we now also have to face state policies that ask to further extract from our already burdened communities. For instance, Georgia SB 529 seeks to suck up immigrant’s hard-earned income by taxing our remittance wire transfers to our families back home. We are displaced by US economic policies, harassed and kept in a state of constant fear to ensure a cheap and disposable labor supply for US corporations. Immigrant communities in GA and around the country challenge all these, and we say “No Taxation Without Representation.” -Colin Rajah (National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, Chair Program Working Group)

blah blah...“The political moment in the United States brings four important intersections: the war in Iraq, Indigenous Artic drilling, Katrina survivors and US-Mexico border & immigration issues. In fact, all four issues are under the Department of Defense and Homeland Security.” - Ruben Solis (Southwest Workers Union, Southwest Regional Representative)

When I saw Carranza, I knew that rape must have been the primary motive. He is a scumbag. I hope he gets New Jersey-style justice while he’s in prison.

Prayers for the surviving victim. She will have a rough time of it. Prayers to the families of those who were murdered. None of their lives will even be the same.

If that shyster is being paid with charitable contributions so he will defend an alleged murderer/assailant/sex offender who's also here illegally...

Wow. Wonder how happy the donors would be about that....

They could release him into the cities of Newark or Camden. Even better yet Philly.

Just did a segment about him on Gibson's show. He is awaiting trial for raping a child for years.

How the hell does someone like this get back on the streets? ...and I am not even mentioning he is an illegal.

Regarding his lawyer - I am under the impression that all illegal immigrants receive free legal representation in our country - and their organizations (i.e. La Raza, MEChA, NBTA - Mexico, NCLR.org, etc.) make sure of that.

Hey, you want to know how much the media hides this stuff? I looked EVERY where to find out if this POS was an illegal, and only just learned it now from this thread on Freep! Chalk up three more deaths to our countries pathetic illegal immigration ideals. Liberals (and Bush) may think illegals “just want to work” but the FACT is what we are doing is putting peoples lives in danger! Why? Because an illegal could be ANYTHING! A rapist, a killer, a terrorist, how can you ever know? You can`t BECAUSE THEY ARE ILLEGALS!!
