This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Oh Lucky you! I didn't know about them until they had already been to the Chevy Center in Youngstown, the first of the month. I would have loved to have went.
What is the latest on the kittens? Are they still around?
My ferals? Yeah- I’m still seeing at least two, although taming efforts aren’t going very well. I have set up nice dog-safe places for them to sleep out in the barn, and they’re using those, which is great, but I put their food out there too, so I haven’t had much interaction with them and don’t know if I’ll be able to at this point. The little calico is sleeping in the dogloo that’s up on top of the cabinet. I’ve seen her in it, hiding, thinking I can’t see her. I hope the sister is still with her, but I haven’t seen her lately.
And there is another black and white kitty who I think is setting up housekeeping under the house.
I was wondering if any of you all have had those electric rock things that people put in reptile habitats for them to lay on. I wondered if something like that would be safe in terms of fire risk and warm to put in the bottom of the dogloo in the barn, under the straw.
Not this year. Other then for just Mack and I.
It's windy and cold here today.
I'm having problems with Grizzly....errrrrrrrrr...some background. Remember the house you pass before you get to mine that has the funny fence. Well they have ducks and geese...lots of them. I've noticed lately that they are often times out on the road, or over on other property besides their own.
Last week Grizzly brought home 2 dead ducks:(...I don't know if he is going onto those peoples property and getting them or catching them out on the road. But whatever, he's getting them.. Today I caught him with another one. He hadn't hurt it yet. I hollered at him and he dropped it and the the thing took off. I tried to drive it towards it's home but it kept circling back....
Not sure what to do about this, but I sure don't want an angry neighbor showing up.

Good morning. The last word I got, day before yesterday, was that they could not do the transplant due to scarring. Lori is still in the hospital in SF as they are apparently trying to decide what to do. I’m praying for a miracle :)
Ack... Can you catch it and take it home?
Sounds like a bad scene.
I’m so sorry....I’ll pray too.
Becky
I sure appreciate the prayers - we are all praying for a miracle here (see post to Becky). Getting word is difficult :) as we are on a phone tree here on this.
I guess I could...Just don’t have the energy:)

Back when Pearl was an outdoor-only cat, I used an old heating pad, just turned on low, and put it under some old blankets in a box on a shelf out in the storage building. Used left it on 24/7 all winter and it was fine. As long as it’s someplace where it’s out of the weather and isn’t one of those that turns itself off after an hour, it should work fine. They’re cheaper than those heating pads specifically designed for pet beds too.
Oh dear. So sorry duchess! What are the options?
Well, how do you feel about duck for dinner?
ROFLOL....that’s great.
Becky
Well, that is a problem about Grizzly. I don’t know what you do about it either. I’d always heard that when the old coon hunters around here had a dog that was going after possums instead of coons, they’d give him a pretty bad whipping and then tie it around his neck until it rotted off. Supposedly it broke them of it, but then you know how those kind of tales usually go. ~:-/
Well, I beat a dog we had too with a chicken he had killed, he never killed again....
I had decided that is what I was going to do if he drug another dead one home. This one wasn’t dead tho:)...don’t know how beating him with a live one would work:)
Becky
I’d like to see the film if you try ;~)
LOL!! Beat to death with a dead duck...that sounds like something out of a Monty Python movie!
OK, so it is a little later than I hoped but man I have been slammed here lately! This is the first time I have signed on since the Saddle Club moot! Here are some of my pictures.
Headed to the north end
It was a fun day. I was not as sore the next day as I thought I'd be. Frog, I think we need to do it in the spring too!
It has been a learning process with me on Blade. I don't think you would really ruin her-I did not ruin Blade-but the way I was riding him made him pace and I had to retrain myself and him. Frog was very helpful but you can also feel it when it is right. Hope has always been pretty good on the trail when I have seen her, my son even rode her and he had not ridden in several years.
