I know I'm going to be flamed and elections are still a year and a half away but the momentum seems to be favoring Hilary as the next POTUS. The sooner Republicans and conservatives accept the fact President Bush and the congressional Republicans have so enraged their base and independents that the Democratic Party will gain even stronger control over the congress and will take back the White House in the 2008 elections.
What is to blame for the collapse of the Republican dominance over the US? Corruption, arrogant refusal to heed the wishes of the public (especially on immigration and border security), and Iraq.
Right or wrong, most Americans blame Republicans and Bush for all the problems the US faces. They may not like the cowardly Democrats in congress, but they are viewed as the lesser of two evils.
I simply do not believe the Republican base will work to bring out the conservative vote in the next election - they are tired of being ignored, ridiculed, and abused by the Republican elite in Washington.
President Bush is not the man they thought he was. He calls them racists and not wanting what is best for America just because they oppose giving amnesty to 12-20 million illegal immigrants. He doesn't lift a finger to help the jailed border guards. He let Scooter Libby dangle in the wind for so long despite how obvious it was he should never have been charged in the first place. He didn't change the liberal and leftist bureaucrats and attorneys when he came into power. He opposes racial profiling or protecting the border. He repeatedly calls Islam "the religion of peace" despite the fact Muslims have committed more than 9000 terror acts in the name of their religion since 9-11. He dragged his feet in weaning America off foreign oil. He's presided over a shrinking Navy that can no longer fight two simultaneous wars.
Sure, he's done some good, but it can't be denied at how bitter most conservatives are at the Republicans and how they feel betrayed by President Bush.
So, despite personally liking Romney, I think it's inevitable Hilary will become the next president. May she do better than the Great Betrayer.
Okay I hear you on the prices. But man, I hate their food. And I am no food snob- I’ve eaten some crazy stuff in some crazy places.
You are SO RIGHT! This is the #1 problem since the beginning of the Bush Administration. Republicans have no backbone! It's embarassing and pathetic especially considering that the majority of Americans espouse conservative family values.
It's been a foolish, foolish waste of power.
I believe she will be “elected” also. This is why I have been asking my congressmen to start the impeachment process against her now while there still are a few “Republicans” in Congress. LOL!
Bush has disappointed me in many ways, enraged, no. I looked up some things he has done right and found a long list on an old post on this very forum. How soon we forget.
He has never repaid in kind the crap thrown at him ceaselessly by sore loser Democrats. How could anybody achieve much of anything short of hanging on with what he has been beseiged with?
So the war isn't going well. I didn't want it in the first place, but is it possible it might be going a little better if he had some support from the other side?
I didn't expect him to do everything I wanted. I will still defend what he has done that I think was right and will say a few things I wish he had done differently now and then.
We still have our right to criticize some of his policies without fear of reprisal. How long will we have that?
This has never proven true in this country, and will not as long as people clearly and passionately oppose this agenda. The Dems are playing their hand too strong and too soon, empowered by the 06 election. But they are not as strong as they believe, and they have let slip their mask. The reach and influence of big media wanes every day. By next fall it will not be enough to influence the electorate. This is their last gasp, and there are some among them who know this, and are shooting all their guns. A charismatic Republican candidate will defeat them in a landslide.
Sorry, man, but FDR’s 4 victories show that the American Sheeple will accept socialism if they are just told that the socialism is good for them.
This country is in decline. Americans want socialism. They want the government to take care of them and give them what they “need”, such as “health care”. Freedom and liberty scare Americans.
Even some bozo posing as a prophet will get one right.
“A charismatic Republican candidate will defeat them in a landslide.”
Well let’s check the stable; Oh no Ronnie’s gone!
Sorry, but I am expecting the Osama guy from Chicago, Illinois to get the presidency...
I disagree. Even reading the DUmp and Daily Kaos, there are Dems that don’t like her, and they claim they will not vote for her regardless (third party if they have to). I think the possibility if a Clintoon for POTUS would rally the entire base from the Christian Right to the moderates, unless the nom is Guiliani. Then I can’t see myself supporting him.
You’re right .. Bush sucks so I’m going to vote for Hellary
SHE WILL NOT!
I have never, ever feared her. She will set the all-time, never-to-be-broken record for negative turnout in a presidential election. Take that to the bank!
“May she do better than the Great Betrayer.”
Was that you hanging out with cindy sheehan, calling for the President’s impeachment?
Go back to DU. Sheesh.
Like it or not, pigs can fly.
Bunk.
With that kind of an attitude why don’t you just join the Democrat party and Hillary campaign and be done with it.
Hillary will not win. I still think she may lose the Dem. nomination. Look at how desperate she was last week in attacking her rival. A true frontrunner doesn’t do that. Also that “Bill Hill” show they put in Iowa a few weeks ago flopped big time. She has dropped 6 points in the Iowa polls since then. The more people see of her, the less they like her.
If Obama or Edwards doesn’t take her out in the primaries, I believe that Romney, Thompson or Guiliani will take her out in the general. The only possible way, she could win is in a three-way race with a Perot like third party and I don’t see that on the horizon.
I hope you are wrong but I fear you might be right. Many Republicans and Independents have come to hate Bush and may sit out the election.
Hillary has yet to square her initial support for the war with her leftwing base. She’s papered-over with the “if I had only known” line, but that isn’t going to wash.
The Democrats have a history of a food-fight for the nomination. That may not be the case with the compressed primary season — Hillary might swamp all comers with a well-financed, full-court press. But then the Dems are left with a nominee who doesn’t reflect their anti-war values. Weird. ‘Course the Media will do their level best to ignore the obvious.
“Right or wrong, most Americans blame Republicans and Bush for all the problems the US faces.”
I blame Roe v Wade and a just God.
Hide and watch....44th President of the United States will be RUDY G.
