I remember a book by the writer Marcia Davenport...her autobiography probably...and she described the recording experience of almost 100 years ago. Her mother was Alma Gluck, an opera diva, and that was the context of the description...many of the studios were in N.J., I think...
but it interested me because about that same time, my father's mother traveled to the n.e. & made a recording, too.
Years ago, my father had the record redone on a cassette tape, and now my sister has recently had a CD made from the cassette.
There isn't too much degradation. At least we have it..
We think the original record still exists, just not sure where it is in our mother's house.
But yes, I remember from Davenport's description that it was a long, difficult process.

Dog, I'm late thanking you for that behind-the-scenes info about Man vs Wild. Personal news input: My son called from Paris the other night and is on his way to Rome today; my copy of Rowan Scarborough's SABOTAGE arrived yesterday; my passport finally arrived yesterday (applied for it in MARCH); after I used an AKA-47 root killer spray, hopefully the crab grass in my flower garden has been assassinated.
And her credibility with some of her facts in the piece you linked as well as other misinformation from Schlussel has been researched and found lacking by Freepers on This Thread on the subject.

Oh, these are the initial stages. It'll have to be mixed, equalized etc. Then we'll have to look at cover design, also check into copyright requirements.
Not sure how many we'll produce yet either.....I'll keep the thread updated as production continues.
