Good morning!
A coolish morning here: Global Warming strikes again!
( I really should do better to come up with something more substantial for this space....)
Good morning.
You make me smile, Rav.
THere’s so much good stuff in the WSJ today, I may have to buy a print copy
Good morning!...more rain expected today...
Dog, thanks for the link to the Belmont Club. That writing was amazing. I can understand how it moved you.
Jemian, thanks for the comments from JT. May the boredom spread...that's my hope...quiet, productive, boring times...
MozartLover, hope you're okay this a.m.
Also the news out of Hollyweird that several anti-Iraq war movies will be coming out the next few months....
The Company they Keep Don Lambro
Imagining Defeat Cliff May
Gitmo and AQ Opinion Journal
'It didn't Happen- Dems and crimes again humanity James Taranto
Rehearsing Evil IBD editorial
Good morning All......raining in Central Hoosierland....we need it too.
JT...God’s blessings on all of you in the service....Our nation should give thanks everyday for the wonderful young men and women who serve. Thank you for your service, JT.
And amen to your words of thanks for those who serve. If only those who serve in Congress - many of them - would serve as bravely and competently.
Good morning, Toby........did you have your grits this morning?
My knee is feeling a little better this morning...it must be “old Art in the knee” and the rainy weather set it off.
Getting old isn’t for sissies.
Good morning!
Amen to that, Molly.
No grits, on one of those ‘don’t eat anything white’ diets.
Betcha grits will be given a pass sooner of later on this diet.
Good morning lady, how ya doing today.
I’m a little stiff this AM. But I’ll move around slowly until the muscles loosen up. I’m also going to take an antihistamine for a tiny rash I have on my arm. I’m thinking poison ivy.
I just finished watching the Patton video. It was great. The writer gets it.
MozartLover posted yesterday that she came through the surgery fine. She’s waiting on the results of the biopsy, but it is thought to be only some tissue. I’ll go hunt up her posting.
HERE YA’ GO:
“Back from the oral surgery, it went very well....thanks again for all the prayers, everyone!
I will get the results of the biopsy next week but it probably was just a small fibrous tumor of some sort.
It’s starting to hurt; I just popped a bunch of Advil; the doc gave me a prescription for Vicodin in case the Advil doesn’t take care of it.
I’m going to go rest. bbl”
You take it easy today, OK?
Good morning Molly and everybody, thanks for the links.
We spent 9 hours in the studio yesterday, broke for supper, went back for 3 more hours to make rough copies of our stuff and today will be listening, possibly tweaking, and deciding what makes the final cut and what doesn’t.
We discussed how recordings used to be done in days past, without all the magic technology that exists today. We agreed there were probably some short tempers that rose in those days because there wasn’t any option other than a complete re-do if somebody made a mistake. Or perhaps to just live with the mistake on the record.
It’s amazing how computers assist nowadays in many little “fixes” that occur in the control room. Missed the first word of that phrase? We’ll just reset the software, you sing along with yourself and we’ll re-record only that phrase and drop the good take exactly in the place we weren’t satisfied with.
Were the lead and harmony vocals a little off-tempo on that one spot? No worries, the engineer will just monkey a bit with the wave files and get your voices much more together.
So the bass hit a wrong note during that second chorus? We’ll just take it from another place in the song and repair it.
I have to admit that I have a whole new level of understanding and respect for recording artists and their engineers. The pro’s are playing and rehearsing all day long anyway, but groups that have day jobs and also do work as a band are a different matter, IMO.
This experience has been positively thrilling, but it’s also hard work. However, we believe that because of the quality of the equipment we were able to utilize and the skill of our good friend and engineer that our production will more than exceed our expectations.
And we are already talking about our next CD. LOL!
I woke up this morning not really feeling top dollar, really don’t know what I am going to do.
Well, actually, no. I’ll get started slowly, in order to limber up, but I think that moving is the answer for it today.
If you could see my garden you would know I have a lot of work to do.
And the hedge trimmer gremlin struck again yesterday. I was cutting an overgrown rose bush when the cord got in the way. It is the third cord I’ve cut through. I got the hand choppers then. The bush is now about 1’ tall. It was about 12’.
