Shocking charges; Indictment against Vick describes unfathomable acts

During an April raid of Vick's property in Virginia, authorities seized 66 dogs and equipment commonly used in dog fighting.

The indictment handed down Tuesday against Falcons quarterback Michael Vick and three others describes in detail how they procured a property in Virginia for the purpose of staging dogfights, bought dogs and then fought them there, and in several other states, over a 6-year period. With at least three cooperating witnesses providing the details, federal authorities compiled a detailed case that traces the birth and rise of Bad Newz Kennels.

But not a single line in the 18-page indictment will generate more rage toward Vick and the others charged -- Purnell A. Peace, Quanis L. Phillips and Tony Taylor -- than a sentence near the end. It reads: "In or about April of 2007, Peace, Phillips and Vick executed approximately eight dogs that did not perform well in 'testing' sessions at 1915 Moonlight Road by various methods, including hanging, drowning and slamming at least one dog's body to the ground."

Sounds like this guy Vick got off on coming up with different ways to kill his dogs. A true sadist.

So which one was nicknamed the “shotgun”? Was that the boss429?

Yeah, I think I remember the 302boss. It was lame compared to what was available from the aftermarket.

I was never a big ford car fan. I liked ford trucks in the old days though. I really liked the big six banger in a truck for practicality and durability. It was a shame they quit making that motor. I did like the original ford mustang alot...65 model year. And the cobra, but I wouldn’t really consider that a ford, just a ford motor. A relative of mine bought a ford pantera when they first came out. That was a nice car...kinda ferarri-ish but with a big american iron motor. He traded that in on a corvette ZR1 when it first came out. THat was probably a mistake in my opinion.

I’m not a big fan of little sporty cars. I like sedans, trucks, and boxy 2doors that go fast. A buick GNX or a chevy malibu 1980ish vintage.

Dream car?...A 1968 ford F100 short box(style side, not stepside) 2wd 4 on the floor. It’s gotta be sky blue though and a 300six and no air, no power steering, no power brakes and a glass sediment bowl in place of a fuel filter. Manual choke on a one barrel carb is a must. I want the original factory AM radio with vacuum tubes or no radio at all. Also, the original rubber floor mats or else bare steel floors. Find me one of those and I’ll be your best friend for life. I’ll name the dam truck after you. I’ll get vanity plates with your name on them.

I could be REALLY happy with a atable that looked like this:

Ferrari — F40 and FXX
Ford — GT40
Corvette — Z06
Porsche — 959 (Gruppe B)

‘60’s Cars
1963 Galaxie 500 GT — 406cid w/Tri-power
1966 427 S/C Cobra (not a “replicar)
1968 Chevelle SS 396
1969 Ford Torino “Cobra” 428CJ w/Ram Air
1969 Yenko 427 Camaro

I got news for you. A pocket knife is useless on all but the tamest of pits, and those you don’t need to worry about. These dogs don’t feel pain. Get yourself a stun gun. When they are locked onto your dog, you will be zapping the both of them, but at least the pit will be disabled long enough for you to get your dog away. If he revives, zap him again. If the owner attacks, zap him too.

I personally believe in bullets and guns, so I don’t bother with the other nonsense. No knives, stunguns, or pepperspray for me...just hot lead moving real fast.

>>>Absolutely. That is an appropriate penalty.<<<

I posted the following on another thread about the Vick/Dog story. Seems we agree!

There is a story of Saddam's brutality that involved enticing a Iraqi bureaucrat who spoke against him to a meeting - where he was beaten bloody and senseless by some of Saddam's thugs...and then left alone in a room of trained and starved killer dogs... that basically consumed him alive while his family was made to look on.

Maybe that would be appropriate justice for Vick.

For sixties cars, I gotta go with a white mother-of-pearle flake AMC AMX with red, white and blue stripes, studebaker avanti, checker marathon stationwagon, The general lee from dukes of hazard, the international-harvester scout, jeep jeepster, The first porsche 914, a 65 mustang OF COURSE, and the first triumph TR-6, pontiac tempest.

Yeah, that’s not a bad list, if you get beyond the “Muscle car” category. The AMC Javelin wasn’t a bad set of wheels, either.

I’d take a clean ‘68 Bronco and a ‘72 F-250 Custom Camper Special, to flesh out things in the truck lineup.

Wow, you are a die hard ford fan.

I remember those ford torinos. I think. The one I’m thinking of was a large 2door fastback. My cousin had one that was dark metalic brown and black bucket seats, a 1969 I think. It had a 3 speed auto though. I didn’t like that. I thought a car like that should have 4 on the floor. It seems like he only had 14” rims too. That really sucked in my opinion. But the car had enormous potential.

My offer in post 102 applies to you too. I really want a light blue 68 ford F100 in original condition.

Let’s just say that a few opposing DLs may raise dogs for more benign reasons. They could very well take offense to M. Vick’s electrocution of his failed fighting dogs. I see your point.

Dog fighting is a southern man’s sport and is as American as apple pie. And if you don’t like it, then don’t attend. But don’t tell others they cannot pursue something their ancestors have been doing since coming to America. Restrictions on hunting, fishing, pit bulls...the slippery slope...continued emasculation of the American male.

My grandfather was a Ford mechanic for 42 years; started back in the early 1930’s. My family drove all Ford cars and trucks up until the folks bought an Olds in ‘78. We even owned a Pinto Runabout and a PInto Wagon, at one time.

I’ve only had two cars that aren’t Ford models: a Saturn L1 Sedan, and my current ride, a Chevy Lumina. It’s not that I’ve had anything against buying a Chevy or a Dodge, just that what I have came along at the right time for the right money.

We had a 69 Torino GT with a 2bbl 351 Windsor under the hood backed up by a C6 automatic transmission. The wheels were the same 15-inch “GT” wheels that appeared on the Mach 1 Mustangs.

Not mustangs and novas. Sheesh.

Certainly not Novas, but definitely Mustangs.

I’d say Mr. Vick is innocent until proven guilty

Gimme a break. I saw footage of the dog fights on ESPN, and it looks like an open-and-shut case to me. Vick is a scumbag, and he can kiss his QB career goodbye, which he was really nothing more than a beefed-up version of "Slash" anyway.

I saw some video today from the Vick residence showing two guys each holding two youngish pit bulls by the collars attempting to entice them to fight. ...or at least show aggression. Neither of the dogs were too enthusiastic. In fact, one licked the other one in the face. .....much to their owners' displeasure, no doubt.

Of course through repetition and rewards I'm sure they eventually got the dogs to act the way they wanted.

But what the Vick boys appear to have done is beyond the pale. In any event, pits were and still are bred for hunting, especially for hog and boar to put food on the table. And I don’t like to see a part of another man’s culture which was handed down through generations torn asunder. There are just some things in this country that should appropriately be done quietly and not commented upon nor brought to light publicly. Its all a diversion to give the common man something else to think about rather than what’s really important to our future.

Yes, many things in this town are still a race issue-Atlanta is unable in many ways to get out of the past and move forward.
