During an April raid of Vick's property in Virginia, authorities seized 66 dogs and equipment commonly used in dog fighting.
The indictment handed down Tuesday against Falcons quarterback Michael Vick and three others describes in detail how they procured a property in Virginia for the purpose of staging dogfights, bought dogs and then fought them there, and in several other states, over a 6-year period. With at least three cooperating witnesses providing the details, federal authorities compiled a detailed case that traces the birth and rise of Bad Newz Kennels.
But not a single line in the 18-page indictment will generate more rage toward Vick and the others charged -- Purnell A. Peace, Quanis L. Phillips and Tony Taylor -- than a sentence near the end. It reads: "In or about April of 2007, Peace, Phillips and Vick executed approximately eight dogs that did not perform well in 'testing' sessions at 1915 Moonlight Road by various methods, including hanging, drowning and slamming at least one dog's body to the ground."

Hmmm...427ford...lets see...
If I remember, that was called the “shotgun” motor, and it had overhead cams. Is that the one? Is my memory correct?
Yep, I think the hype with VY is the same. They would do more as WR with their height and speed. Weak passer and who rely on the scramble don’t last long.
That is just one of the aggravating things about this case. In my hometown it is so bad that my wife is afraid to walk our two dogs (German Shepherd and mutt) outside our immediate neighborhood. There are platoons of teenage boys from the 'hood walking their untrained pit bulls on chains attached to harnesses. (That means they are not under control.) We have heard of a number of dogs that have been mauled around town. I've taken to carrying a pocket knife with me in case one of these dogs clamps on to one of mine. You can't get them off otherwise.
I wonder if when he plays will the PA be playing, “who let the dogs out”? Seems to fit.
THE ORIGIN OF "OOKIE"
One of the strangest aspects of the Tuesday indictment of Falcons quarterback Mike Vick is that, in addition to "Ron Mexico," he also is known as "Ookie."
So where does the Ookie come from?
Apparently, it was given to him by his mother. And, apparently, he only lets close friends refer to him by that moniker.
"Man, if they called me Ookie it would really be on," Vick told ESPN.com's Page 2 several years ago. "I would really be upset, because nobody else can call me by my nickname but my mom. Unless I give you permission because you really know me, but none of the guys know me real good so they can't do it. But yeah, that would really get me going."
I’ll bet Ookie’s Mama is really proud of him now, especially since her nickname for her son is now prominently featured on the front page of an 18-page Federal indictment!
The Falcons should have cut Vick a long time ago — for reasons that have nothing to do with this incident. He’s been the most overrated player in the NFL in my lifetime.
Vick is a thug. The other word for him was buried last week. When is “Thug”s funeral ?
And, what is written in that article is the reason that the Falcon’s organization have come out and stated they will do nothing, and that Vick’s future is not at jeopardy. I hope that public pressure changes their minds.
In other words, a QB who completes a 3-yard pass on 2nd and 10, or a 5-yard pass on 3rd and 7, is credited with an incomplete pass instead of a complete pass.
When the league's QBs are rated this way, Michael Vick consistently ranks as the worst quarterback in the NFL -- and by a wide margin, too.
Right.
My boyfriend and I had the same idea- except he should be covered in gravy beforehand.
Even though TV revenue is huge, NFL teams lose tons of money in parking and concessions — money that isn’t split among the entire league, BTW — whenever they play in front of sparse crowds.
I’m curious how many of Mr. Vick’s teammates (or for that matter potential onfield opponents) will be offended by these charges and make Mr. Vick have a “hostile work environment”. I haven’t seen this point discussed. Sure there are a lot of thugs in football but I’m sure there are an equal or greater number of decent, principled men. Mr. Vick’s troubles may just be beginning.
Although I am, heh, just another pretty face, I'll agree with you completely on this.
I could accept that the dog fights were done for the money. I would even, go with me here, accept that the dogs killed for poor performance was just a monetary necessity.
But I am quite sure that somebody could have gotten some of that euthanasia medicine Vets use to put down sick pets. It's much easier when you think about it.
Nope, that vicious killing of the poor performing dogs was about cruelty and nothing else. Americans will never buy this. Vick should bend over and kiss his football playing behind goodbye.
