NEW YORK (AP) -- Given a choice among the Police, John Mayer and Madonna on television or a summer's night out, millions of Americans chose the latter.
The Live Earth concert, Al Gore's sprawling worldwide effort to raise environmental awareness, wasn't a big television draw. NBC's Saturday-night highlights show was seen by 2.75 million people, according to Nielsen Media Research, or fewer people than watched the soccer match between Argentina and Peru that night on Univision.

I think you only had to watch six minutes to be counted as watching by Nielsen.

fewer people than watched the soccer match between Argentina and Peru that night on Univision. You mean they took "Sâbado Gigante" off for that. Millions left without a "babe" fix.

They lost the ratings battle to third world grass hockey on shortwave frequency.

One thing I wonder is how a concert can have any effect on scientists or much of an effect on politicians. In reality most politicians are highly astute in evaluating the effectiveness of a campaign and they are not associating themselves with this one. The musicians themselves have sold out and everybody knows it.

I read the article, what a bunch of cry babies. WAAAA, it was a holiday, that's why not many people watched, they say. PHEW, they didn't watch because it's a bunch of hogwash. Spewed out by a lot of misguided, hypocritical, egotistical, elites.
This reminds me of years ago (1980's?), when actors (can't remember which ones) did a tv ad about how everyone should be carpooling. Many of these people may be smart, I say may. But, they have absolutely no wisdom. Power and lack of wisdom makes them a dangerous bunch.

Actually that's all the illegals here checking on their fookball scores from back home.
Unrelated note, I have no idea what product it is but it's humorous to see the fookball jerseys with the "BIMBO" logo on them.

Katie Couric draws almost twice that number for her pathetic CBS Evening Snews.
