Jem, is Virginia Creeper a weed or a plant? Found one in my front planter and have cut back the vines but don’t know if I need to pull it. Help!
Did I ever tell you that I hate yardwork - all of it - and here I am suffering through. Uck...
Good to see you here.
I like Sessions, too.
Hot today thru Wednesday...90s.
Busy time for me......got the crock-pot going (cube steaks in gravy)....doing laundry.....cleaning house. I work at the fair tomorrow....and have company coming in also.....so don't know how often I can join in at ATRW.
Wanted to take time to say "Hello" to all my cyber news buddies....hope all are well and enjoying this wonderful summer.
jtill, I like Senator Sessions too......I wish my Republican Senator....Senator Luger was on the same page as Senator Sessions in regards to illegal immigration.
I know I’m late, but that breakfast sure does look good.
We have just had a gully washer. WOW, it came up fast, lasted about 15 minutes and there is more coming in. But that rain was so loud on the skylight we had a hard time hearing anything in the kitchen.
If the weather clears, I’m going to pull all of my zuccini squash plants, they have quit producing. They produced a lot when they were at it, but not now. The yellow squash is going bananas so it’s still safe. My tomatoes have a lot of green ones, but no red ones yet. I’ve picked one green banana pepper, Roomey has been picking his okra. I won’t touch them, they have small sticky spikes. My fairy rose did another number on Roomey when he was mowing the front yard, he claims it’s trying to kill him. I have to prune the fair around the flag pole.
Tonight I’m going to fix some fajitas, my first try. I usually let our foreman’s wife do it. I’m not into Mexican cooking.
I love hearing about your success with your garden.
You are corrrect, Toby. He was nominated by President Reagan in ‘86? The Senate Judiciary Committee refused the vote come to the Senate Floor.
I love hearing about your fairy rose....my neighbor has a fairy rose bush growing along her wooden fence..it is so pretty. She is elderly and has a gardener that keeps it trimmed back.
I have lots of green tomatoes ...but none showing red yet.....a friend offered to fix fried green tomatoes...I have never tried them. I think I will wait for the tomatoes to ripen.
My tomatoes are really producing, getting lots everyday and my squash, no way can we find another way to eat them, giving them away now.
I CAN’T BELIEVE IT, RUSH IS BACK!!!!
Toby.....Gentleman Farmer!!! Wish you were my neighbor...I would love to have some fresh eggs and fresh veggies.
YEA!!! Rush is back...........
I grow things to the excess just to be able to share with my neighbors, just like I cut their pastures and yards with the tractor. They work for a living, I am retired and have more time to do things than they do. Besides, it is fun.
If it is not growing where you want it, it is a weed.
You need to pull it or poison it. If you cut it, that is the same as pruning it and it will grow back with more sprouts.
ISB, please correct anything I have said amiss. I do not claim that I know what I’m doing with gardening. I am learning new things all the time.
Jtill, as far as whether any plant is a weed or a legitimate plant, there is a large debate on that. I have devised my own definition: if it is growing where you want it, it is legit. If any plant is growing where you don’t want it, said plant is a weed. Zinnias are almost always weeds. :) The first coreopsis I planted were plants; the rest were weeds.
I’m thinking of coming up to your area sometime between the 20th and 30th in July. I’ll stay at a friend’s house in Huntsville and branch out from there. I won’t be up for that many days, just two or three, but I want to swing over to your town and meet you if I may.
I like Jeff Sessions, too, and support him for president. The only problem is, he isn’t running.
Yet.
I basically don’t like Richard Shellby. He is too wishy-washy. He was a RAT up until ‘94 and switched when the November House Cleaning occurred. His problem is that he has no morals and does what he thinks will keep him in power. So, if the republicans are in the ascendency, he is a hard-line republican. But when the RATS are in ascendency, Shelby is almost as bad a RINO as Spectre.
I am enjoying the program today. I hate it when he is not on the air.
Sure, he can take a vacation. He needs one, like everyone needs one. He’s only human, really!
But the show is not the same. Nobody else is Rush.
With this drought, I have lost at least 8 rose bushes. And I haven’t begun to count the azaelas I have lost.
I want to replant hybrid-teas, but I can’t find any anywhere in the garden shops. I don’t want to order from a mail order company, but I may have to.
How many posts can you make without anyone else jumping in here?
At least 6.
You are a master gardener I think!! Experience is the best teacher..don’t you agree?
The drought is hard on lots of plants, I haven’t watered my larger flower beds yet, just the blooming flowers in the flower bed. Mother Nature has given them a good soak these last few days....even the grass is getting green again.
I have cut back a few azaela bushes and I see a little green on them.....I hope I can save them.
