Police officers are being forced to make "ludicrous" arrests in an attempt to hit Home Office targets, it has been claimed.
Ridiculous examples include the case of a Cheshire man who was cautioned for being "found in possession of an egg with intent to throw".
In Kent, a child was arrested for throwing a slice of cucumber from a tuna sandwich at another youngster, while a was boy arrested for throwing a cream bun on a school bus.

Throwing a creamfilled pastry on a bus' windshield at a busy intersection is just dangerous - a distracted driver could lose control of the vehicle and people could be injured or die.
And big deal if police "cautioned" a man who was going to throw an egg.
Any cop would tell a would-be vandal: "I wouldn't toss that egg if I were you."
Good point...but just how many cops would actually write up a report about warning someone not to throw an egg...worse, how many cops would write such a report claiming to know what the "perp's" intent was?
Proof of the banal existence of wearisome pommies.
You might be able to discern intent pretty easily.
If someone is standing on the street with an egg in their hand in a pitcher's windup, you know they are not weighing whether or not to fry or poach the egg.
What if you had caught this individual egging people's property before, creating a nuisance with his vandalism? If I were a cop who had caught him before, knew him to be a troublemaker, etc., I'd probably write him up just to document that he was at it again.
That’s a lot more detail than is given in this story....good points all, but a lot more detail than what was provided.
My point is that the story gives no context at all to these incidents - it just plays them up for sensationalism.
My scenario is just as plausible as others - but the author is going for shock value, not serious reportage.
I’m shocked!
Wasn’t this a Monty Python skit?
Beware of the deadly Cream-Phyllo Cones. LOL!! :D
