California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has refused to be drawn into Paris Hilton's jail appeal, insisting he has more pressing matters to deal with.
The desperate socialite, who was sentenced to serve 45 days in jail earlier this month after violating terms of her 2006 drunk-driving arrest, has teamed up with a pal to pioneer an online petition begging the politician for a pardon.
The appeal, which is addressed to Schwarzenegger, claims "the American public who support Paris are shocked, dismayed and appalled by how Paris has been the person to be used as an example that drunk driving is wrong."
Earlier this week Schwarzenegger's press secretary insisted it was premature to comment on the case, but his boss hinted yesterday her campaign was likely to end in disappointment.
Schwarzenegger said, "I've never got any request. But I have many more important things to think about."
I’m appalled she wasn’t frog-marched out of there immediately to start serving her sentence.
You are assuming she went to school
Ahnold probably caught a lot of flack for even indicating he would consider her case. That is the reason for the change in attitude.
She probably spends 45 days a year in a salon.
more like a saloon.
45 days is nothing. She probably spends 45 days a year in a salon.
Make that Saloon and I would guarantee it.
She definitely spends 45 days in a saloon.
That may be true, and I might be able to muster up a thimble full of “give-a-crap” for her if she was asking the governor for a reduction in her sentence, but she’s asking to be let off the hook entirely. I don’t think that’s right either.
True, she probably had her daddy buy her high school diploma (if she even bothered).
It would seem that accountability and consequences are brand new concepts for some.
I dunno about California standards but, she got caught twice violating the terms of a 3 Year probation for a DUI. She's lucky I wasn't the judge--I'd have given her six months in the slammer.
She is finding that money can not buy everything, in this case her freedom is not for sale.
Count me in. Lock her up, save that Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren from a terrible fate.
Yup. No matter how much money you have, eventually you will find something that even you can’t afford.
I know of a first time DUI offender who got two weeks. Besides, parole violation is a serious thing. It’s what allows good people to continue their lives by the grace of the court under the pretense that they repent and will do better. Taking advantage of that societal good will must not be tolerated.
You sound like you need some jail time.
Love the animated ‘Do I Give A Damn’ gif, where can I get this one?
Here is what they are doing here in Vegas:
Paris confusion is sign of the times.........
Not everyone read the fine print on that “FREE PARIS” message on the marquee at the Palms.
Easy to miss, at the bottom of the message that isn’t what everyone thinks, is the word “trip.”
Instead of a statement of support for jail-bound Paris Hilton, it’s a promotion for the Palms new Bistro Buffet. Try the buffet and you qualify for a drawing for a free trip to see Paris, as in France.
“We’ve had a lot of response, a lot of calls,” said Palms owner George Maloof, who purchased a full-page ad that’s running in today’s Review-Journal.
A hopelessly confused male who attended the Palms’ Ditch Fridays pool party asked, “Does that mean I get a free trip to see Paris in jail?” said Maloof, a pal of Hilton’s.
“We thought it would be fun to play off it,” he said, referring to Hilton’s run-in with the law that will send her to a Los Angeles jail for up to 45 days June 5 for violating terms of her 2006 drunken-driving arrest.
A week’s revenue from the buffet, probably $60,000 to $70,000, will be donated to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Maloof said.

If she really wants released, she should denounce her citizenship and then declare she’s an illegal allien.
