Did anyone get this email about May 15 2007? On this day, the email states that there is going to be a walk out on buying gas, throughout the U.S.A..
In my opinion and the way gas prices are sky rocketing in the United States, this is a great idea! Lets show these politicians and oil companies who is really in charge, us! Lets all banned together, and show them how we can control the price of gas too!

1. Everyone in the U.S. does not buy gas for one whole day! Gas up a couple of days before May 15.
2. Same goes for Natural and Propane gas, don't use it for the whole day.
If we don't make a stand now, it will be too late!

I blame the democrats who have tied up our energy policy with extreme environmentalism. IMHO they are trying to break our economy so they can institute another form of government - a liberal one.

Good point. How do you keep the EVIL oil companies and gas stations from getting tipped off about the email?
They could drop the price on the day of the boycott and then raise it to $3.95 a gallon on the next three days.
We need secret decoder rings, so the gas stations can’t read about the boycott. That way we can sneak up on them!

A better idea *might* be to shop around a little bit and only fill up at the cheapest place...
You would think in this day and age you would have learned something by now. Nothing gets done, if you don’t try. You can’t get things handed to you on a silver plater, you got to earn it, fight for it.

Actually this time they are not out of control, they raised the price gradually so people like you wouldn't get all upset and try to impose an embargo, or worse yet, call your congressman and complain about it so they nationalize the oil companies.

It looks to me like the main stumbling block to exploiting this natural resource is the environmental-wackos that file law suits, lobby Congress, etc.
Maybe you should strike out at them. I posit that would have much more effect then a “gas strike.” This idea has been suggested many times. It doesn’t work.
And speaking of prices, did you know that gasoline prices have gotten so high that women who want to run over their cheating husbands have started to car pool?

This year's e-mails (proposing a one-day "gas out" in May 2007) is yet another recasting of similar messages that have been circulating since 1999.
The premise behind all these messages is inherently flawed, because consumers' not buying gasoline on one particular day doesn't affect oil companies at all. The "gas out" scheme doesn't call upon people to use less gasoline, but simply to shift their date of purchase and buy gas a day earlier or later than they usually would The very same amount of gasoline is sold either way, so oil companies don't lose any money.
By definition, a boycott involves the doing without of something, with the renunciation of the boycotted product held up as tangible proof to those who supply the commodity that consumers are prepared to do without it unless changes are made. What the "gas out" calls for isn't consumers' swearing off using or buying gasoline, even for a short time, but simply shifting their purchases by a couple of days at most. Because the "gas out" doesn't call on consumers to make a sacrifice by actually giving up something, the threat it poses is a hollow one.
Not buying gas on a designated day may make people feel a bit better about things by providing them a chance to vent their anger at higher gasoline prices, but the action won't have any real impact on retail prices.
