OK. A little while ago we adopted a beautiful male cat from the animal shelter. We dutifully had him neutered, got him the required shots and began to care for him. About a week or so ago, the cat is leaving some serious odor from his "marking" (spraying). My wife, is having a major problem with this and says the cat has got to go.
We are moving into a new home in a few weeks and she does not want to have to clean after this cat. I know my kids will be heart broken over this, but she is resolute. Perhaps adoption by another party? She thinks we can return it to the shelter. I wasn't so sure about this, so I am asking other cat owners for advice.
Well, of course! It's FISH FLAVORED!..........
He has been almost exclusively an indoor cat. The only thing is that he deperately wants to get out of the house at times and we have to track him down. I am leaving the door and window to the house open today (for the first time) and he has spent the last hour on our porch and front lawn. He likes it better out there I think.
I’ll do it for $20. If you can provide a sharp knife or cheese grater.
That is one of my all-time favorites!
He won’t live as long out there. Beside traffic, other cats will fight over territory.
Just my 2 cents worth.
“It is scary that you think this is funny.”
It’s funny you think that is scary.
I don’t know why it would upset anybody.....................
I would suggest you try to training the cat. There are experts who can help you. Try calling Warren Eckstein on his pet advice show. He has both national and local Los Angeles show, and you can call in for advice.
I thought it was quite apropos per the thread.........
Generally, humor needs a bit of originality or at least spontaneity to elicit a chuckle, however, for some particularly juvenile individuals the same, tired joke told over and over never fails to produce a knee slapping belly laugh from the usual goobers.
I believe it. My cat prefers a mud puddle. You may need to give him bottled water. There might be something about your tap water that he doesn't like.
Must be what we called being proud cut, I remember as a very young ranch-hand back in 1933.
Don't do anything drastic too quickly as he will eventually stop leaving his announcements when his body realizes he ain't the man he used to be.
Also being a certifiably incurable cat lover myself it will be worth the delay to allow nature to level him out into handsome and sweet and good and faithful friend for many years to come.
I just recently had to put down my good buddy of 12 years because he was diagnosed as having an inopperable brain tumor.
Very very sad as I still miss him terribly when many wonderful memories crowd my moments of remembering.
The fact that he needed me and I knew it, was the reason for our closeness, he was a one man cat and I was a one cat man.
Hey "Dinky Do" your "Daddy" still remembers you cuddling up to me when we were asleep in our bed.
Farewell again my good and excellent friend.
Congratulations! What do you feed him? Steroids? :)
We got one of our two Maine Coons as a rescue and had him neutered at 11 months. He’s never sprayed. Although, sometimes he’ll jump on the bed and hump my feet through the covers...

He'll live longer there, than at the animal shelter. He'll just get put down there after no one adopts him. Besides, we are (I am) leaving the window ajar for him to climb in through if he likes. One of his favorite sleeping spots is under my bed. We have to see with this.
Also, after hearing about the gland surgery, I am not sure that would stop the problem. I think he is mostly just peeing to either mark his territory or that he senses we are going to move in the future and is feeling stressed.
The cat is about 8 and half pounds.
I had a neutered male that would mark stuff outside but not inside. I’m not sure why, or how you could get your cat to do the same. He was a pretty smart kitty, he even taught himself to use the toilet instead of the cat pan when the pan was dirty.
