How to buy a new gun in California?

How can I buy a gun for protection in California? what are the steps? please help! I know nothing ... it would be great if you could also advise the model you would recommend too. thank you

No, I’m not kidding. She actually told him that, but later when I crossed my eyes at her she said she had just been kidding. When he came up to moose camp last year she told him she hoped he wouldn’t kill anything. When she told me what she had told him, I told her that she wasn’t going to get one more moose steak from me if she kept on talking like that.

I don’t mind her not wanting to touch guns (and Lord, she makes a big deal out of them), and I couldn’t care less if she ever hunts....but if she wants moose meat, she’d better be a bit more supportive of the mighty hunters and mmmwah, the huntress. ;)

I do believe that is perfectly legal. Any reputable gun dealer would know.

I DO know that I can’t just slap a gun in a box and mail it, legally.

It WILL have to go thru an FFL...now as to the purchasing in another state...that part’s fuzzy.

Actually you can send a rifle through the U.S. mail. If there is a clip, it has to be removed from the rifle and placed in the box. And of course, it can’t be loaded. Ammo can be mailed as well.
