Very unfortunate accident. Prayers to the family.
Condolences to the family.
I hope the ball wasn’t hit by a Duke Lacross player driving an SUV.
"Back of the head" sounds like no helmet, eerily reminiscent of the recent "no seat-belt" gubernatorial accident.

Was the player wearing his helmet?
Have a LAX helmet right here and have to wonder if the player was wearing his helmet which is well padded.
How tragic for his family, prayers of course.
The back of a lacrosse helmet does not extend down as far as a football helmet.
A lot of kids now wear the helmet canted forward so the visor is slightly above the eyebrow. That would afford less protection to the area where the skull meets the neck.

SPENCERPORT, N.Y. (AP) A 14-year-old lacrosse player died at a Rochester hospital Thursday after being hit in the head by a ball fired by a teammate during a pre-game, warm-up session.
Jeff Milano-Johnson, a high school freshman who plays varsity lacrosse in the Rochester suburb of Pittsford, was retrieving a ball in front of a goal Wednesday when he was accidentally struck in the back of the head just below his helmet, police said.
He was placed on life support in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital before he died Thursday, The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reported.
Me, I’m curious why a teenage boy has a compound surname. You usually only see that on gender feminists.
In a written statement issued through the hospital, the family thanked the community for its support and announced plans to donate the teen’s organs.
“Doctors have told us that Jeff suffered unexpected and severe bleeding, although his skull was not fractured. This unusual response to his injury raises the question of whether there may have been an underlying abnormality that contributed to this tragedy,” the statement said.
The accident occurred before a high school game between Spencerport and Pittsford. The game was canceled.
Milano-Johnson’s 11 goals this season put him among the top 10 scorers in Section V lacrosse this spring. His brother, Doug, a senior, is also a member of the varsity team, which has a 2-2 record.
Scott Bryson, who coached Milano-Johnson from second grade through the start of sixth grade, said the brothers have loved lacrosse from an early age.
“Jeff was absolutely passionate about lacrosse. He was the kind of boy who always had a stick in his hands,” he said.
Are lacrosse balls very hard? I haven’t got a clue.
maybe not but they fly em fast the old m x a = F
A boy is killed, in an apparent accident, playing a pretty rough game and you are concerned about the relationship and/or politics of his parents?
Only slightly softer than a hockey puck.

Why read into my question that which isn’t there? I said I was curious why a teenage boy has a compound surname.
That’s what I meant. I say what I mean. Please refrain from putting words into my mouth.
More “progressive” and “sophisiticated” couples (you know, where the woman keeps her last name and the husband is emasculated) will give their children both parents’ names. I know tqo couples that did this (guess how they vote...)
The mother’s name comes first, then the father’s...
