[Soaring Feather]

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

The day goes well
the poet breathes
the hope of spring
and rustling leaves

a robin’s chirp
in old brown leaves
a unbared belly of a worm
hot breakfast before decomposition


Velvet leaf covers hit the ground
a south wind encourages unfurling profound
in lush greenery mingled with flowering shrubs
the forsythia ready to burst in bloom
of golden yellow on creek banks and back yards.


In the woods the smell of life
rising from the piles of loam
the call of the jay along the path
with the cardinal well hidden in the pine

the glory of spring!

It is so true, too! If it weren’t raining, I’d go out and cut some forsythia branches to force. Lilacs look about to burst, too.

to announce to the world it is a new day again,
the clouds have taken cover

as they merrily go on their way.

makes for interesting weather.

I have avoided the weather channel today.

My bones say this, it’s danged cold and damp
out there, the wind chill is 32%, humidity is 100%,temp is 32F.
From the green area on the weather map, it ain’t good. ;(

Amid the sun warmed grass
littered with laugher and life
all was shattered like a crystal goblet
once filled with life’s wine
now spilled in stark crimson
as rage and insanity
raced riot in marble abattoirs

Just one could have refused it to pass
one will and means to handle strife
but they were outlawed, so ill met
with ease across the line
the rage came swirling until done
it was able to come, to be
and in hindsight no answers seen from afar

of thirty three young lives?

The sun will continue to warm us
we will laugh again
but the parents of the dead ones
will slump a little lower in their chairs
at dusk, their brows more furrowed
and their hearts empty for the flesh of their flesh.

And the poets write in outrage at the utter waste of humanity.
