Now, on to tonight’s topic: summer. What’s your favorite thing to do during the summer? Do you have anything you do every summer? What are your plans for this summer?
Usually, I look forward to going to the beach. My grandmother lives two blocks from the beach in the Isle of Palms. However, this summer, I’m more excited about going to Vermont. Why? Because that is where my adorably newborn nephew lives. And hopefully, I get to spend an entire month with him this summer. :)
Lol that was supposed to be MOVIE night. :P
Well, my dear mommy is turning half a hundred on July 4. She's planning on having her birthday celebration in Las Vegas.
I wonder if I can find SPF 5000 sunscreen???

Favorite thing normally to do in the summer is camp or fish.
This summer I'm moving home to Georgia.
No more icebox winters for me.
This is my first summer as a professor. We have a 9 month contract but get paid over 12, which means for the first time in many years, I don't have to do a damn thing - and I get paid for it! (yes, I know this underscores FReepers' perceptions that profs don't do any work, but I have to play the hand I was dealt.) : )
The reality is, as a tenure-track professor at a research I university, I need to write a couple of articles from my dissertation and I am laying the groundwork for some research that will start next fall. I will get to go to 2 congfences, so that takes care of my distance travel. I also plan to explore Iowa. I'll be busy, but busy on my own schedule, which is fine.
I didn't know what 'icebox winter' was until this winter when I came to Iowa. I hope I can stand it 'til retirement.
Typically, I make a trip home to see my folks in the summer.
Otherwise, I just try to endure the Louisiana heat.

I'm hoping to go to Vermont this summer, too. It's home for me, where I grew up and lived until not too long ago...but this week marks two years since I've seen my home town. *snif*
Other than that, hopefully this summer I can do more exploring locally, in Western Washington and Washington State in general. And I have a brother, sister-in-law and niece here, plus a soon-to-be-born niece who will arrive by summer. ;-) So I look forward to spending time with them.
And it doesn't rain much here in the summer, unlike the winter! That'll be nice. Can get my bike out, do some wandering with my dog.

Our esteemed VP may not smile much. If you lived through harsh Wyoming winters for most of your life, you wouldn't smile much either.
