"Sen. Barack Obama, right, claps hands with his grandmother, Sarah Hussein Obama, at his father's house in Nyongoma Kogelo village, in western Kenya, in this Aug. 26, 2006 file photo. Obama's two years in the Senate have taken him around the world, from Russia to Iraq to Kenya - a travel itinerary more ambitious and more costly than any other senator who took office with him. Interesting caption from AP, calling into question(?) the expense of his travels.

One of my pet peeves: Junkets at taxpayer expense.
These elected morons must think we are really a bunch of saps. We should put a stop to it. Make them justify beforehand, all international travel. And it better be a good reason. Hell, they work for us!.

This man is so not ready for prime time.
And his wife should have never made that comment about Obama being shot at the gas station on 60 minutes.
Hillary watches TV.

Obama's two years in the Senate have taken him around the world, from Russia to Iraq to Kenya - a travel itinerary more ambitious and more costly than any other senator who took office with him.
Obama is revealing himself as an opportunist.
- He takes the opportunity to bilk the Illinois voters who elected to the Senate by seeking higher office just two years into his Senate term.
- He takes the opportunity of his Senate position to bilk the taxpayers as he gets the perks, including worldwide travel.
- He takes the opportunity to bilk the nationwide voters in a run for the White House before he creates a track record that would be open to scrutiny otherwise.
And the MSM are eating out of his hand -- at present.
[Any bets on what political machine might be behind the revelation of the cost of his worldly travels?]

Good Lord. I am sorry, but America does not need a President whose mother dresses like Butterfly McQueen in Gone With the Wind. Black, white, whatever, show some class.

They are in Kenya, In Kenya that is class.
Its his granbdmother ,not his mother. Pictures of his white mother and Grandmother must be scarce since I have never seen one of either.
The thing I notice is how he pushes his black part while his white part stays hidden. Where is Mama and why isnt she on the campaign trail.

Whatever. They aren't Kenyan, they are American. When JKF and his family went back to Ireland for a sentimental visit, they didn't don kilts and play bagpipes.

I don't get it. Why purposely dress in clothes that symbolize an era, (for American blacks anyway) when you were enslaved? Imagine the derision this sort of thing would evoke from Walter Williams. He hates this retro African worship thing.

This is how African women dress when they dress up. I know lots of African women and they have a bazillion different such dresses and matching headpieces.

Does she live in Kenya? This is from the photo's original caption, which is included with the photo:
"Sen. Barack Obama, right, claps hands with his grandmother, Sarah Hussein Obama, at his father's house in Nyongoma Kogelo village, in western Kenya, in this Aug. 26, 2006 file photo.
So, yes, she lives in Kenya and this picture was taken in Kenya.

You got it backwards..... Butterfly dressed like her African ancestors. Gramma and her people escaped the slavers.

I saw that his father's house was in Kenya but wasn't clear that his some of his family still lives there. So if he is elected, we'll have an inauguration ceremony where the grandmother of the President is wearing a dashiki?
