The Official Friday Silliness Thread Salutes the 1970's (All Skate)

Dig it: The 1970's are calling...pick up the phone and groove on the memories. When was the last time the Democrats ran the House and the Senate? When was the last time the Conservatives wondered what became of the GOP? When was the last time people craved an "energy policy"? When was the last time the word TAXATION was used in the same sentence as inevitable? When was the last time people considered Ford and Carter as Presidents? When was the last time Iran seriously threatened the USA? When was the last time AM radio ruled the airwaves? When was the last time music was as purposely bad as today? Dynamite! You remember the last time was the 1970s.

Trip out and go back in time to AM radio, a pick in your afro, corn rows platform shoes, bell bottoms, silk shirts, short shorts, large neck chains, mood rings, disco music, rollerskating mania, teen idols, Farrah Fawsett, the Brady Bunch, the misery index, high inflation, price controls, SALT, Annie Hall, and invention of the personal computer. Come join the fun--

All Skate.

Ahhh the 70's

Do you remember the 'air hose' on the ground at full service gas stations?

Jumping on it or riding your bike over it would 'ding' the bell at the gas station and it really pissed of the guy inside thinking a car had pulled up.

"Damn you kids!"

Go Gators!

I've noticed Deep Purple and Black Sabbath in some car/truck commercials too.

"Highway Star" while driving is one of the surest ways in the world to get a speeding ticket, even now when I am forty blah mumble, mumble, unintelligible.....

My family had 2 rabbit diesel's, and 2 diesel VW pickups (rabbit with pickup bed).

The diesel gelled in really cold weather.

A few years ago....Jimi Hendrix (Let me stand next to your fire) used to sell Pontiacs, Doobie Brothers (Rockin' Down The Highway) and Bob Seger (Like A Rock) used to sell Chevys.

Well, we're middle aged now!

I guess these musicians have become what Lawrence Welk was to my Dad and Hank Williams was to my Mom. (EEEWWWWW! What a disgusting thought!)
