Pachebel is the reason over half the American marriages end in divorce. You hear it at your wedding... your wife's sister's wedding... your wife's niece's wedding... your aunt's third wedding...

And it's not played by a professional... no way...

It's always played by some 14 year old distant relative whose been taking violin for two years and is using the wedding as a chance to practice... half the notes are out of tune... or too fast... or too slow... or the wrong melody...

This overrated piece of schlock deserves every snide remark ever hurled at it. Here are a couple good quotes from Jim Svejda:

"Pachelbel...the 300th best composer of his era"

"At best, Pachelbel was a third-rate baroque nonentity who occasionally rose to the level of second rate in some of his organ music. And while the Kanon was composed more than a century before Napoleon showed the world what really heavy ordnance could do, it still unquestionably qualifies as a large bore.
