Evenin'
Just got a call from g'nad. They're doin' well. They bought a generator so they've got some electricity back.
Phone lines are still down so he can't get online yet. He called on the cell.
They're expecting another hit this weekend. But they're prepared for it.
He says thanks for the prayers and concern from everyone.
Thanks for letting us know. I'm glad they've got power again.
Now that they've got the generator they'll get power and probably not lose it again for five years :~)
Thanks for the update, glad they got the generator.
Oh, I'm glad you were able to talk to g'nad, and glad to know they're doing well, considering the circumstances.
We started thawing out Thursday morning. I had the (mis)fortune to be out and about on the roads. Supposedly, the city emergency management agency had conferenced with the area's large employers --- the Lazy E, the state, the Longhorn homers, the school districts, the Motofolk, the Alternative Mechanical Device people, the EveryTechieThing company --- to stagger start times. Instead, everyone (including yours truly) was on the partially-thawed roads starting at 10am.
Ice on the roads. Falling ice from everything that was higher than ground level. Ice blowing off vehicles. Traffic jams the likes of which I've never seen before. I was trying to drive from the Lazy E to my interview, 15 miles away. I had 45minutes to do so. After an hour, I wasn't quite halfway there, and rescheduled for Friday.
Friday was wonderful! The roads were dry (at least before 5pm), the temperatures were in the high 30s.
I don't know much about Saturday, as I slept in. <grin>
This morning, it's wonderfully sunny ... first time we've seen ol' Yellowface since January 10th! I will get up in a moment and open all the blinds ... it's a durn pretty day out there! It's supposed to get up above 60 degrees, and I think it will ... it's already 58!
The rain and cold come back Monday ... more then ...
He said it was snowing like mad, and that they didn't expect to get power back for at least a week more. He's taken the generator and patched it into the breaker panel, so they can power all sorts of things.
He said it got down to the high 30s in the house at one point, when it was 2 degrees outside. <yipe!> ...
We're baking 24 cookies for them ...
