Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Now they're drop spreading Ice Melt.
Woke up to a fresh coat of snow here. The last batch had gotten rather raggedy so I like this. :-)
Hated it when snow gets raggedy.
Yeah, the puppies made a mess of the yard pretty fast. It looks nice again, I'd guess we got a good two inches overnight.
Would have been kind of nice to get new snow here this weekend, since I've not really been able to go anywhere. But nooo...it'll wait until one day when I'm going to be late for work if it's snowy out, and then pounce...
Our neighbors across the street already have their snowman finished. We walked around downtown, Gypsygirl really, really needed a walk. We had good traction in the snow. 'Course in the interim, the snowplowguys came by again and managed to thoroughly block the driveway entrance. Got half of it moved and decided a cuppa was called for. LSA got the birdfeeders refilled and shoveled out a pathway around the cars.
*Sigh*
Guess I should get going. Driveway's not gonna clear itself.
Supposed to start raining again tomorrow and get down into the 30s tomorrow night, but I don't think we'll get any snow or ice out of it, this time.
I love snow! It's so pretty. The puppies don't seem to mind, it's nowhere near their bellies so they just run around and play same as usual.
The driveway's clear except for that half inch of ice leftover from last week. I really need to upgrade the shovel if I want to chip ice with it. I'll put some Ice Melt on it in a little while. I even shoveled snow into the planterboxes that are tucked under the eaves so at least they'll get a decent watering out of it.
We just checked and filled, as necessary, the tires on the evil SUV. They were only down about 15%, interestly enough.
We still have so much ice here, we're talking 2-2 1/2 inches, don't thnk ice melt will do much.
That's good newz for sure. Glad to hear that 'global warming' will be moving into your shire shortly.
Well I read the instructions and they said not to use on concrete that's in questionable condition.
So forget that. On to lunch!
We started thawing out Thursday morning. I had the (mis)fortune to be out and about on the roads. Supposedly, the city emergency management agency had conferenced with the area's large employers --- the Lazy E, the state, the Longhorn homers, the school districts, the Motofolk, the Alternative Mechanical Device people, the EveryTechieThing company --- to stagger start times. Instead, everyone (including yours truly) was on the partially-thawed roads starting at 10am.
Ice on the roads. Falling ice from everything that was higher than ground level. Ice blowing off vehicles. Traffic jams the likes of which I've never seen before. I was trying to drive from the Lazy E to my interview, 15 miles away. I had 45minutes to do so. After an hour, I wasn't quite halfway there, and rescheduled for Friday.
Friday was wonderful! The roads were dry (at least before 5pm), the temperatures were in the high 30s.
I don't know much about Saturday, as I slept in. <grin>
This morning, it's wonderfully sunny ... first time we've seen ol' Yellowface since January 10th! I will get up in a moment and open all the blinds ... it's a durn pretty day out there! It's supposed to get up above 60 degrees, and I think it will ... it's already 58!
The rain and cold come back Monday ... more then ...
I think mine went well ... just as I was relearning the fun of being a housewife, too!
He said it was snowing like mad, and that they didn't expect to get power back for at least a week more. He's taken the generator and patched it into the breaker panel, so they can power all sorts of things.
He said it got down to the high 30s in the house at one point, when it was 2 degrees outside. <yipe!> ...
We're baking 24 cookies for them ...
Better again. My head's all stuffed up, so I feel stoopid and half deaf and can't taste anything. I hate that. But it beats fever.
I still skipped church, though. Mostly taking it easy and reading and resting.
Prayers up for your job, Rose!
Independent yet still part of a large community, frogs are unique creatures known for their distinctive sound and ability to hop. As a frog, you spend your days sitting on lily pads or climbing trees, searching for delicious insects to eat. While there are some frogs that aren't exactly cute, you are certainly not one of those!
You were almost a: Turtle or a Bear Cub
You are least like a: Squirrel or a Puppy
Cute Animal Test!
"Least like a squirrel." I can live with that.
