Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Hehehe... you should warn him before he gets home...
I want a big tub I could soak in. Mmm.
We'd thought about using them, but then decided to go with quartz because we thought it would be better for re-sale, in this area, and in our price range, to use the solid surface.
'zackly. It's not like I keep caulk laying around in the event the Mrs. gets inspired to do demolition.
And you would know this exactly....how???
You haven't been to Virginia without visting your favorite dwarf, have you?
We discussed tile. I'm holding final judgement until we do the bartop in the basement but I've never liked tile for a kitchen counter. I dislike the grout... always seems kind of yucky to me for some reason. I want a nice smooth surface I can knead bread on.
Well maybe this weekend if I get the beds turned I'll put some in and see what happens.
The parsley that I put in the planter box is leafing out. Kewl!
Heh! I called him and let him know...he's stopping by Lowes on the way home.
What I did was, I got some duct tape and ran a strip all along the bottom of the tiles...that way, when the caulk was removed, if a tile was loose it wouldn't just fall and shatter (tiles being almost 40 years old, you know).
Good thing I did. One tile *was* loose...I reinforced it with more tape, but it will need to be re-applied using adhesive and then re-grouted.
Then I removed all the caulk by cutting a hole in it with a razor then gently pulling it out. Then I scraped off the residual with the razor.
Then I got my handy-vac and cleaned up all the little pieces.
Then I sprayed it with clorox solution and left it to dry while we were at Latin. It looks great now...clean and ready for new caulk.
I think the caulk removal is actually the hard part. Steve is gonna love me! :-)
I may treat myself to a manicure, however...my nails are ragged!
Did you realize today is odd?

Of COURSE not! The Internet is our friend, you know! Someone mentioned The Tile Shop on the DIY Message boards, so I went online to check it out. I was even going to have them send us samples of the tiles, until we joined Direct Buy, and I realized I could get the quartz at a nice discount. We may still take advantage of the granite tiles, if we re-do a less costly home for resale in MS.
We're considering a trip down to MS to bring a load of stuff on the flatbed trailer, and find a storage place to put it until we move down. We need to get stuff out of the garage before we put the house on the market, and there are plenty of things out there that SirKit doesn't need for THIS house that we could do without until we move. If we do that, we'd stop by your town to see our nephew and his family, and we'd for SURE make time to visit with y'all!
Interesting ... Gloria is subtly implying that the HillBeast isn't very charismatic. King Cobra Carville is agreeing.
Hmmmm!
I'd read that DalTile has Quartz tile, so I'm going to check those out, as well, since the Quartz would not have to be sealed.
I just finished digging a bed. whew! There's lots of earthworms about. :)
Well, we're relieved to hear Gunner didn't actually ~ eat ~ the phone. Though we're still sorry to hear about the phone's demise.
Labs are chewers, no doubt about it. Gifford was one and most of the labs we familiar with have ventured right up to and occasionally both front paws over edge that separates the living from the recently departed. Somehow they manage not to stray too far over the line. :-)
They do settle down in a few years, usually.
